Changing the Cenctomm messages when random events happen
I was thinking - should we change the messages you see when something like a space carp migration happens? The ones like this
Like, using that one as an example - the lifeforms are only "unknown" to new players. Everyone else just kinda knows what it is
You could argue both sides, in that on the one hand this does nothing but "confuse" newer players (see: the difference between a brainrot outbreak and a blob) or the other in that they provide some flavour and immersion. I wanted to see what people thought.

You might as well make it clear, or make the events actually random.

It's "unknown" because the messages are sometimes reused to prevent meta.

Some of them aren't reused though like blob vs viral biohazard messages are confusingly similar.

qBopper that message you posted as an example is intentionally vague. It could be carp, spiders or xenomorphs

Eh...no. That message is pretty clear for just carp as it's detected 'near'. Spiders and Xenomorphs are unidentified lifesigns detected weld all vents.Wyzack wrote:qBopper that message you posted as an example is intentionally vague. It could be carp, spiders or xenomorphs

We could do it like the mice migration and make them madlibs

Re: Changing the Cenctomm messages when random events happen
But they're all slightly different enough to the point that they are used to meta anywaysRemie Richards wrote:It's "unknown" because the messages are sometimes reused to prevent meta.
As mentioned above, the example in OP is for carp, spiders are "weld vents", shit like that. I don't think it's a big deal, but I was curious if anyone else felt they didn't serve their purpose anymore
I figure, like I said in OP, they don't prevent metagaming from people who know what they are, and they just confuse players without enough experience to have seen them enough times, so they should either be changed to make things vague for everyone or changed to make things clear for everyone (imo)
