Pls revert I mean yeah sure it's a new sprite but it's not a labcoat it's a literal trenchcoat and it annoys me because labcoats are thing things not huge great to your knees and out shit goddamn it ;_;

also it makes everything under it darker 4 no raisin.

Actually labcoats in real life go down that far. It's for protecting your regular clothing from chemicals, including your trousers.

I'm neutral on this matter, just sayin.

I know they go that far.
Unfortunately they aren't biohazard suit thick and they don't go out like trenchcoats.
I would literally take off a labcoat if it was that thick and I was using stuff that could stain my clothes idgaf stuff that thick unless i was dealing with like Fluoroantimonic acid. You would never see a labcoat like that.

It probably depends where you work. If you work with chemicals then id imagine lab coats would go down to your knees.

As for the in-game lab coats. Why not just have the ability to toggle them between short/long versions? Then people can wear them however they like.

I for one like the Long labcoats, Every lab coat I've seen in real life and worn has been of around that length.

At first I thought I'd been given a hoodless chaplain robe or something. I routinely toss the coat now, which is a shame because the old jacketish coat was actually pretty ok.

It looks like an actual coat instead of that flismy fabric labcoats are really made of.

I think it's because it's not white enough.

I don't know why anyone is debating this when you can just use the powers of the internet and drag up a bunch of images of what actual labcoats look like:

The sprite we have in game is almost down to the ankle.

Also it just looks bad.

The CMO colors are the old CMO labcoat length.

You can see how the new one extends 3 pixels past the length of the old labcoats, so why not compromise and trim them by 1 or 2 pixels lengths instead of a straight revert? A single pixel can make a big difference in this game so yeah.

Actually labcoats in game have 50 bio armor, which is half the value of space suits and bio suits.

The reason it was merged in the first place because it promised longer labcoats. I think the reason they aren't liked is because they were longer than expected. The labcoats look too short and could use with a bit of lengthening, but just straight up reverting and being all revert-happy instead of making really minor and easy improvements to new sprites is p dumb

Long labcoats aren't bad, though. I think ankle length labcoats are better reserved for scientists.

Accessories should be rewritten to allow for multiple. Inability to award medals to officers is a pain. Or to award multiple medals.

The kinda harsh shading around the edges still makes them look puffy and weird but this is definitely an improvement over the current bathrobes.

no, there really isnt
the new labcoats are dark and have way too many unnecessary shades. there's too much attempt for detail in such a tiny sprite that it looks like a mess. the old sprite was both simple and good looking, the new one makes me not want to work in science so i dont have to look at them.
