Improving cloning (dynamic clone times)
So basically a good way I think to improve the cloning system would be dynamic clone times based on time of death.
To put it simply, the longer your body has been rotting, the longer your clone times. This would nerf murderboners/spree killers because their victims are usually in hallways and cloned faster. It'd also reward medical doctor competence more. Discuss.

What role would upgrade parts play, percentage reduction?

Re: Improving cloning (dynamic clone times)
Given that most good genetacists kick people out of the machine fairly early and tossing them into cryo I don't think this would work too well, and it would punish players that get killed early like dying in difficult to reach locations

Re: Improving cloning (dynamic clone times)
I believe you mean the scan should take longer, because once the scan is done the body (and thus time of death) should logically have no bearing on the clone whatsoever.

Re: Improving cloning (dynamic clone times)
Why is that? Scanner is scanning your body to make a clone. If your body is damaged, clone will have imperfections and longer "construction" time. Totally makes sense.MisterPerson wrote:I believe you mean the scan should take longer, because once the scan is done the body (and thus time of death) should logically have no bearing on the clone whatsoever.
Basically, more injuries at the moment of scan -> longer cloning times and more clone damage, more disabilities. I would love to see a system like that.

Re: Improving cloning (dynamic clone times)
It's just that people tend to just kick them out of cloning in crit and Cryo them because its quicker, making cloning times pretty irrelevant in many cases

Which is why clones should be kept it -99 health until they're like 50% ready

The cloner isn't repairing your broken body though. Its using your DNA to make a brand new one. Any damage non-genetic damage to the original would be functionally irrelevant in any case.Lo6a4evskiy wrote:Why is that? Scanner is scanning your body to make a clone. Re: Improving cloning (dynamic clone times)
I would imagine pulling a clone out early would be similar to aborting a baby. Don't know why this isn't the case.

It's not using your dna, if it was you'd be like a new born baby, mentally (well sort of).
It's somehow copying your existing old body, brain structure and all, but it is somehow able to distinguish between injury and normal weirdness.

This. I dont like speed cloning. Feels like an abuse of game mechanics.Lo6a4evskiy wrote:Which is why clones should be kept it -99 health until they're like 50% ready
If you guys intend to buff cloning even further, can you atleast make Replica Pods better too? They are pretty much useless right now. They need some niche to fill that makes them useable.

Re: Improving cloning (dynamic clone times)
Lot's of sci fi has clones aging super fast, just imagine it stops when it get's to their correct age. it'd definitely DNA since you can keep a record of your DNA to do it later on, plus genetics(department) is like 100% DNA stuff.damiac wrote:It's not using your dna, if it was you'd be like a new born baby, mentally (well sort of).

Re: Improving cloning (dynamic clone times)
I am going to come out and say this isn't quite needed. RND upgraded super cloners work really fast, empty R&D is evil and I think it is important enough one of the scientists should be obligated to do it at this point. Well that or balance xenobio to be just as useful to people outside science.

Re: Improving cloning (dynamic clone times)
But how do the memories get into the clone? Memories aren't in your dna, they're in your brain! Why can't more than 1 clone be made? Why do those damn punk kids keep skateboarding on the sidewalk!?! Where are my pills?!?!? MAAAAAATLOOOOOCK!Remie Richards wrote:Lot's of sci fi has clones aging super fast, just imagine it stops when it get's to their correct age. it'd definitely DNA since you can keep a record of your DNA to do it later on, plus genetics(department) is like 100% DNA stuff.damiac wrote:It's not using your dna, if it was you'd be like a new born baby, mentally (well sort of).

Re: Improving cloning (dynamic clone times)
The scan of the brain also scans the memories, which are then grown into the clone.
