Deep Rock Galactic: Sci-Fi Dorf L4D
Mundo put me on to this. It's fun. It's still in an early state right now so there aren't a ton of options for progression but the devs seem pretty involved. Showed up at PAX previously.

Each class has some kind of traversal ability which is cool, I really like that about it.
The scout gets a grappling hook, which only works for him obviously, but it allows him to forge ahead and find and mark ores for the group.
The engineer can fire out platforms with a gun which are ssssuuuuper helpful.
The gunner can put down ziplines which, again, are SUUUUPER helpful. Almost unfairly helpful.
The digger has two giant drill hands for quickly plowing through rock. It seems kinda underwhelming at first until the drop pod you need to escape is buried deep inside another tunnel system and you can just beeline through rock there.
There's something really claustrophobic and terrifying about the game, when you've fallen down some holes into a cave system and you know you'll need to escape this to survive but you have no fucking clue how you're going to get up and out of this mess you're in. Definitely really frantic and tense during the escapes.
It's fairly easy on the default 2 hazard difficulty but as soon as you kick that up to 3 you're going to see people getting slaughtered left and right and having to decide whether to leave people behind or not.

The environments are really cool and different. Each of the different sectors has you behaving very differently.
The classes work together in cool ways, in my last run I was an engineer with two scout dorfs most of the game. I could point out minerals high up in unreachable spots on the walls, fire a platform under them, and then the scouts could grapple up there and mine it out.
Like right as we were all staring at the shit on the walls like "fuck how we get that" I think we all had the same idea at the same time and it just came together.
I imagine four people actually talking and working together to strip mine and get the fuck out could have a blast with this. Just playing with rando's for now.

Is it actually like L4D with linear levels or is it a crafting survival type deal? Sounds interesting either way but this much wasn't clear

Levels are procedurally generated, including where the exit might pop up. Sometimes you may end up backtracking, sometimes you may watch your MULE slink down a tiny hole you hadn't seen before and suddenly you gotta fucking PANIC (the mule beelines for the escape when it arrives so trying to just follow it to freedom is a good idea. When it takes a new route you can't follow is fucking terrifying.)
There's no crafting mid-mission, but you do use the stuff you dig up to upgrade your gear between runs.
Unfortunately for the moment each of the four classes only has a linear progression for each of their pieces of gear. No true options for stuff (yet...?). Just "make my shotgun do more damage" type upgrades.

Yeah to be super fair I think Vermintide 2 is the more finished game to be grabbing with your roughly-thirty-American-Trump-ducats right now.
I am a little worried that they might not add more kit choices for each of the classes.
The progression is limited to making the things you have better. +10 damage per shot, more max ammo, that kinda shit. Not as much fun as say, "now your shotgun shoots FLAME ROUNDS" or that type.
If the game goes along and you never get the choice of turning that shotgun into an assault rifle, or an AOE plasma gun, or whatever else, it would be kinda disappointing. Choices are the spice of games.
It's a fun game but if we were to take a freeze frame of it right now and say "this is it" it's not something I could see myself pouring 100 hours into, while Vermintide 2 has all those characters and subclasses and loot grinds and this and that etc. etc. etc.

To be fair though DRG has much more reason to actually talk and work together than Vermintide 2. Which in my experience so far has just been people swearing at me to pick up that Tome, or swearing at other players for running off and dying.

I haven't but that doesn't change the fact that Vermintide has one singular purpose for your team: kill everything.
DRG has you doing that while also trying to work together as a team to traverse terrain. You're doing that while also trying to figure out how you're going to get up somewhere, down somewhere, through something.

I have. Seems cool, but I have two issues.
It's $25.
It's using some kind of pseudo FOV modifier that isn't really changing the FOV like a game normally would. It's more like it's zooming the camera out. On ultrawide it gives me a migraine.

Agreed. Should be $15 for the state that it is currently in. It has a couple different missions to do, which is cool. but I don't feel like there's enough variety within the classes. Very fun, playing crossplat with xbone. No hackers on the microsoft store one so there's that bonus.

Scout is kickass, just got my shotgun fully upgraded.
Digger class seems pretty fucking weaksauce right now, other than the odd time when an emergency tunnel is really useful you are better off with two gunners or engineers

Flamer is highest DPS in the game for non-boss enemies.
Digging is great for emergency tunnels, escaping, linking caverns, and mining quickly.
Satchels are boom.
His greatest weakness is lack of boss damage.
Scout is fun but he's only really usefull for revives and his flare, which doesn't last long enough. Also his grenades can fuck shit up.

I find the shotgun is pretty good for blasting preatorians, and with an engineer to drop you a platform you can easily get ore deposits high on walls by grappeling

His guns are all breddy gud too, and the flare can be upgraded.
All classes are currently good for different reasons and a team that includes one of each is probably the best way to go.

It's on Steam and the microsoft store. The microsoft store version has crossplay with xbone and no hackers so I chose that one over steam. Also more players on the microsoft version as well.

Overclocks and shit are good. I got one for my scout's shotgun that lets me do shotgun jumps like the force-of-nature and it's fun as hell.

cryo+literally anything else is an instawin, it just cucks the driller's damage output. handy for waves of praetorians, it slices, it dices, it's completely dishwasher safe

I have an overclock on my cryo that makes the freezing potential shit but the ice shards it spews out do way more damage.
It's basically a fuckin minigun now and I love it.
Elephant rounds for the Gunner's revoled is goat.
Shotgun jumping on the Scouts double-barrel is goat.
Dont use the fucking garand at all tho its a trap you idiot stick with the assault rifle its absurdly good.
