Curse of Madness
The previous thread on this issue: https://tgstation13.org/phpBB/viewtopic ... 33&t=26505.
Proposal for new policy for Curse of Madness: You don't have to follow any commands given in/by a Curse of Madness casting, but you'll have plausible deniability if you do choose to follow them. To give some examples, if a wizard uses Curse of Madness to try to trick (emphasis on "trick") you into following a command like "Kill yourself immediately." or "Don't harm wizards.", you can just say "hell nah" and shotgun the aforementioned wizard in the face. If a wizard tries to trick people with a command that ISN'T absolutely lame, then you can choose whether or not to follow it at your own discretion, even if following it as a non-antag would break the rules ("Kill everyone you encounter (other than yourself), there can only be one!"+Summon Magic+Summon Guns).
Any other policy would be nigh-unenforcable, as how could you possibly tell who actually got tricked by a Curse of Madness casting apart from the people who know that Curse of Madness text doesn't have to be treated like a compulsion, but followed the command anyway because they wanted to self-antag/murderbone/not get shot first by someone who DID fall for it?
tldr;
Curse of Madness text should give you a free license to follow commands given in it, even as a non-antag, but still shouldn't compel you to follow said commands against your will.

Re: Curse of Madness
Just hit the summon guns button if you want free antags for the crew. Leave curse of madness as a massive fuck you.

Re: Curse of Madness
isn't curse of madness meant to be some sort of mindrending truth?

Re: Curse of Madness
curse of madness costs 4 points and is arguably less destructive than summon magic + summon guns (which arent even available to purchase anymore, atleast on bagil), with HARS the traumas given are an absolute joke, for 4 points id agree that people are allowed to do what the message says but arent forced to

Re: Curse of Madness
the curse of madness message is just funny effect text, some of the traumas it can roll is hypno so if you want to brainwash roll for it
>r 4 points id agree that people are allowed to do what the message says but arent forced to
idk man that seems funny until scinigger decides that " cat vore " means "max cap station" in albanian, maybe this curse could be reworked to not be rng roll to be cripple

Re: Curse of Madness
that would be an administration issue but a rework would be interesting tbh

Re: Curse of Madness
I would, but the antag creation ratio of summon guns/magic got nerfed into the ground for some reason. Also, summon guns can't create a battle royale.NecromancerAnne wrote:Just hit the summon guns button if you want free antags for the crew. Leave curse of madness as a massive fuck you.
Yeah, but it LOOKS like hypno text, so you can currently use it to trick people into THINKING they're brainwashed. Or, well, you can if admins don't bwoink you/waste your 4 wizard points by making an admin announcement revealing your trick/gimmick first.remanseptim wrote:isn't curse of madness meant to be some sort of mindrending truth?

Re: Curse of Madness
I only made it hypno because it is mind-affecting magic, if that really is too confusing for certain players it could be changed to a different color, or something static.

Re: Curse of Madness
We still stand by the past policy ruling we made on this, https://tgstation13.org/phpBB/viewtopic ... 33&t=26505 . It is not meant to be taken as a command.
HeadminVotes:
Coconutwarrior97: Keep policy as is, wizard rounds are chaotic enough, and the PR author made it clear they intended for this to be fluff.
