If SS14 dies i don't have to hear Shilling Swept anymorecacogen wrote:I've never spoken to anybody about this before so I'm not sure what the correct opinion to have here is but based on my preliminary analysis I hope SS14 dies

We've been over this. Cobby also lives there.
You can play these through the links I provided but I think you mean staged screenshots. I'm not sure what the problem with that is.remanseptim wrote:post more of these fake screenshots

Yeah, I think ss14 has generally been faring in a better state compared to Unity lately. I'm not sure if either will really catch on though... BYOND's greatest asset is ease of development, so any random person can add stuff. Unity and SS14, though they realize this, still have a lot more of a learning curve to contribute for.

I believe it would be good to start when the features of ss14 isn't approximately one light-year behind the latest production build of /tg/ about six months ago (September 3rd, 2021)

That's fine, but I don't wanna downgrade.TheFinalPotato wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 12:42 am The useful thing about ss14 is they're not trying to copy us beat for beat, since well, a lot of our music is flat.
Also means they have a hope in hell of having a feasible project without mass exodus from byond, since they're not trying to remake in the same way as unity (was the last time I checked a year ago)
Is this really the case though? C# is really popular with game developers while Beyond code is super niche.Bawhoppennn wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 11:44 pm

Byond very much excels in modularity. You could teach a 10-year-old how to tweak or add a new item.CPTANT wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 4:58 pmIs this really the case though? C# is really popular with game developers while Beyond code is super niche.Bawhoppennn wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 11:44 pm

Unity, which also uses C# makes this trivial through using scriptable objects. No idea if SS14 already has something similar, but it's definitely not a foregone conclusion that adding content is harder in C#Itseasytosee2me wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 7:21 pmByond very much excels in modularity. tg had a codebase to start with, also someone recognised me IC in 10 other servers fuck you!!!
SS14 now has a station that can break in two and you can fly away with half the station.MMMiracles wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 3:24 pm neither of them have tramstation so why would i play on them?
