What I would suggest would put them to use, and add another dynamic system to the game.
Every 10 minutes, a small shuttle drops off 5 robot tourists. Those tourists can have a preference for furniture, being uranium fans, gold fans, so on. These would travel using the same beacons as Mulebots to their exit shuttle in the emergency shuttle corridor. For every related object they pass, they get point added to their tourist score. They also buy food when passing by the chef (just don't ask what they do with it). When they reach their escape shuttle, (and there is a check that there is no humans aboard like the supply shuttle) they leave. All surviving tourists get their points tallied, and good or bad things follow.
This is when they're working as intended obviously. They come at a regular time intervals (If the round time is 43 minutes, the next group of tourists will stop by in 7 minutes) so players can expect with them, and subvert them. They can be flashed like borgs and be disabled in the same way. Cultists are able to turn them into a shell. Traitors can reprogram them, turn them into the Protocol Droids from System shock 2. Suicide bombers you really want to run away from.
