I got in really late, and didn't stay long. The headmin trio would pick one willing participant at the time, to activate their mic and let them say their questions and thoughts. That part caused me physical pain in my ears, so I left pretty shortly after that, which is maybe 5 minutes, definitely not long enough to make a good judgement on the overall event.cacogen wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 3:06 pmWas the telethon good because I'm thinking it probably wasn'tBONERMASTER wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 2:33 pm I listened in on the community podcast yesterday, and Rave said, the team is asking people to admin all the time. If we're being very, very fair, the stuff people divulge in those admin applications do have a hint of personal information in them (although we don't specifically ask for that) to make their convictions/reasonings in regards to being an admin a bit more personal. I think making them all public would just invite peanuts and all that jazz and people just would not enjoy it.BONERMASTER wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 10:47 pm It's not hidden, you can view it fine and open a thread in there. Only the applications are hidden, wouldn't want the 5 users on this forum to catch wind of these....hah!

I know, but I still sat on my ass clueless for those two months.Mothblocks wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 11:45 pm To be fair san I was literally trying to get you over the span of like 2 terms, you were already a thread I was spam bumping before you made an application![]()
Can you convince me that this:Mothblocks wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 10:41 pm It's not supposed to be hidden, is "Submit Admin Applications" not near the top of the board?
It's only hidden so much as other people's apps are not public to anyone other than admins.

NO that's what I meanMothblocks wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 5:33 am Bawhoppen it's called "Submit Admin Application" and it's at the top of the board list, it's not PMing someone

Whatever you think you know about how the team used to handle applications? Probably outdated.Bawhoppennn wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 6:04 amNO that's what I meanMothblocks wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 5:33 am Bawhoppen it's called "Submit Admin Application" and it's at the top of the board list, it's not PMing someone
PMing someone is more inviting than a hidden board where you are silently judged by a secret tribunal of admins
I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this...
yeah, I know this cause they are alll touhou mins who get accepted, nianjiilical wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 2:26 pm contrary to popular belief the admin team mostly consists of a bunch of weirdos who talk about cats and touhou and strategy games, and also oranges is there
Alright I was in the mood of being a little too silly when I wrote my posts:

And there are admins still recruited without applications. Eronymun is the most recent candidate who caught a trainer's eye. Watermelon too. It happens regularly. Trainers see someone they like. They put them forward internally. They get adminned.
Well that's good to hear it still exists. I had assumed the application forum had subsumed the old methods for a new, more structured approach. That was where my main concern was. I do think that having both options is a good thing in this case! Both methods do have positives and negatives. I'm not the type to say we always need multiple options for everything, but I think it's very appropriate in this case.Timberpoes wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 11:13 pmAnd there are admins still recruited without applications. I still believe your Friends With Trainers system is very much alive and kicking in many respects, depending on how transparent the trainer wants to be about the process. I got adminned because I DMed Coco asking if I could run events and do more with my Coder rank. Their response was to admin me and put me under all the appropriate checks and balances that the admin team gets for doing that sort of stuff. So I definitely got into the team via "the slide into headmin DMs" system.
For players who don't want to slide into DMs incase someone thinks they're trying a bit of social engineering, there is the far more transparent application subforum. It is highly beneficial for players who have not yet been recognised in order to bring attention to themselves and say "Hello, yes, I'd like to be an admin and I'm being open and transparent about it. Please consider me!"
Applications are very useful because they're so open. With transparency comes freedom to talk to players, freedom for them to reply and know they're not being misrepresented. There are definite benefits for players AND for the admin team. It's why I shill for the application subforum so hard.
