If someone you are arresting yells out over common that sec is killing them when they are not, they become valid.
If someone falsely yells sec is beating them, they can be beaten to the point of having blunt wounds.
If they want to cry wolf over comms that sec is treating them unfairly, they can actually face whatever abuse they're falsely accusing sec of just to stir shit.
This would give sec players more leeway to be shitters.

From my perspective, players just want to genuinely be listened to. And I don't mean it condescendingly, but to genuinely have their say and for admins to listen, process it and reply. Even if you don't give two shits about what the player is saying, even if you disagree with every part of what they say, players are less likely to leave an ahelp pissed off if you've listened to them and given a reply that directly addresses what they've told you.
based idea, i fucking hate arresting assistants who immediately start screaming over radio or to their nearby drones who instantly drop everything to come and rescue their friend

Qbmax32 is quite literally one of the dumbest individuals I have ever had the misfortune of coming into contact with. He has zero redeemable traits, and honestly I have to suppress my gag reflex every time he shows up in a conversation.

Here's a rebuttal: you're literally in a customer service slash celebrity position. Volunteer or not.

We have a solution for that, it's called the Ahelp button and every self-antagging tider gets noted/banned.

We have a much better solution, it's called the gulag.

The rules exist to create the biggest possible chance of a cool shift of SS13. They don't exist to allow admins to create the most boring interpretation of SS13.

This also works! But admins always say to ahelp these kind of things, so I figured it was the apt solution to give to one.

It's much easier to throw selfantags to the gulag than to ahelp and either wait for action to be taken while making sure no one gets to the prisoner or have no one there.
Of course if the self-antag results in security being dead then it's completely different

Archie, are you a Christian?
As funny as it sounds I think it's a bit silly. Whining shouldn't make someone valid to be abused, although if they're being enough of a shitter to you you can probably consider it escalation in which case you're already allowed to beat them for it regardless.
Like if the arrestee screams "SEC MURDERING ME SEC BEATING ME," they're being annoying and I'm fairly certain you can whack them a few times with your baton already in the rules for that. Or just kneecap them if the crime they did was deserving of it. But like... If someone's spraypainting the floor and sec arrests them for vandalism, and then they yell "SEC BEATING ME" to be funny, it'd be a little excessive to start beating them to a pulp for that.

I wouldn't say excessive, I think it'd be fucking hilarious.
Meh. Enabling security to become the monsters they’re made out to be sounds like a very silly idea that will make things worse for most parties. Secs valid hungry enough as it is and more often than not I find it’s the peaceful/passive ways of dealing with idiots that work the best. I think giving people the green light with this would just result in more people being assholes to each other and would give the average uninvolved assistant even more excuses to start shit with sec. Generally just more problems.
State sponsored swirlies, on the other hand, is a more appropriate solution to idiots.
There's literally no reason not to yell "AI SEC KILLING ME" when you're being arrested as a human, protesting an arrest probably isn't worth a validing but lying about sec killing you? Maybe.
Archie700 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 26, 2022 4:11 pm
After I thought about this I realize harming people is superfluous when you can just throw them to the gulag for a long amount of time or permaing them for falsly claiming harm, because those bad-faith players will just ghost anyway.
This has precisely been my point the entire thread. All we get out of this is the ability to harmbaton people. We've always had ways to deal with shitters like this, it's upping their sentence or giving them a harsher one (Gulag instead of a timed cell).
Shut up fake girl, don't be a buzzkill.
With secure regards

What do you mean I'm not allowed to kill-implant a guy because he said I'm "mudrering shitsec" after I harmbatoned him for shoving the mime?
After much consideration, we're not currently favourable towards assigning blanket validity to security when arrestees choose to lie while whining / complaining. The increased potential headaches for everyone involved when the questions of whether or not people are lying or just being wrong about an arrest, in addition to the promotion of validity focused lowest-common-denominator play is just not worth the headache.
With that said, as a middle-ground solution that will hopefully help with the core issue this policy aims to combat - security can now consider attempts by arrestees to rile up mobs or sway bystanders to free them as an act allowing greater IC punishment. If a player wishes to make security's life as hard as possible, they can enjoy their additional point requirements in the gulag or a greater time locked in the brig (at security's discretion).
Rave: Agree with above
San: Agree with above
Misdoubtful: Agree with above
Spook: I've done a bit of a 180 from my initial opinions on this - the discussion in the thread has convinced me that the downsides of implementing the policy as is are greater than the potential upside, hopefully the middle-ground compromise will still make life easier for security players dealing with problem-causing players without promoting a "I will kill you because I can kill you" style gameplay.
