In my defense, I was answering an urgent adminhelp that said "whats with the fire alarms..." and was under the impression it was just someone whining about nothing. I apparently joined within seconds of the reboot vote finishing, at which point it failed to reboot because the game won't let reboot votes go through if an admin is connected. OOC fucking exploded on me because they assumed I manually cancelled it so I got a little cranky about it.

I admittedly overreacted, but I was also dealing with getting a phone call at the same time and I don't deal well with being pulled in three directions at once like that. So yeah, sorry for going apeshit like that. It's something I try not to do as much as possible.

I do not even believe for a second that OOC exploded at you, making you cranky. Logs are the ones showing that you were the one who started being hostile to them first. They only started being hostile after you basically dismissed their issues and insulated that they restarted for a shit reason.

Vekter can often come off as the admin equivalent of the 100 note ancient fossil player that refuses to stop breaking the rules (Deitus/Icepacks). Fine most of the time, but prone to occasional rash, cynical and jaded responses or expressions of frustration and impatience.

I'm sure it's difficult to not express cynicism at times having been an admin for so long. Patience can often wear very thin, very quickly, having seen all the same shit played out before.

But I consider a ticket-hardened admin to be a flawed admin. Not bad, but at risk of being too closed-minded in their approach to things. Possibly inflexible too.

I try to approach every admin-player interaction with a generally open mind, even where I've seen the same shit a hundred times.

From my perspective, players just want to genuinely be listened to. And I don't mean it condescendingly, but to genuinely have their say and for admins to listen, process it and reply. Even if you don't give two shits about what the player is saying, even if you disagree with every part of what they say, players are less likely to leave an ahelp pissed off if you've listened to them and given a reply that directly addresses what they've told you.

I'm a very vocal activist in the admin team leading by example. When an admin handles a ticket poorly, they risk creating a guarded player that doesn't trust admins. That will negatively impact dozens of future ahelps such a player may have with admins. And those negative player interactions entrench more negative admin attitudes. It's a negative cycle that feeds back into itself.

One of my missions as an admin (and was also very high on my agenda as a headmin) is to be fair, honest, open and to listen. I try hold other admins to account internally. I try to be open in appeals. Not interested in petty wins like the Dreary Doom appeal. The headmin response upholding my rejection, contradicted my reasons for rejecting the appeal. Letting the appeal end there would have been wrong, and so I overturned the headmins to much controversy and wonderful drama.

So in pingbus (the channel that @here's all people with the @supportmin tag when an urgent ahelp is sent to the discord) when someone takes over a ticket they'll be like "I got it", that way we all know that someone definitely has eyes on it and is handling it. Vekter is quickest on the draw and most frequent. Simple as. Sometimes he's on it within seconds of the ping.
