Can we still volunteer ideas here? If so then I always thought that barbell racks/punching bags/basketball hoops could have more character than a brief moodlet increase, for instance;
- Enough weight training gives you a bonus to movement speed when dragging or fireman carrying, and the speed at which you can aggressive grab or lift someone.
- Enough bag training makes your punches more likely to knockdown or makes them inflict stamina damage on top of regular brute (like boxing gloves but more lethal).
- Shooting enough hoops makes your throws go farther or your gunplay/punches more accurate (fewer missed shots/punches, better targeting of parts).
- Progress can be sped up by eating well (ingesting Protein, Salt, Water), taking supplements (Vitamins, Growth Serum) or abusing chems (Pump-Up, Kronkaine, Epinephrine, Oxandrolone is an anabolic steroid).
- Plasmamen could spike their internals with more exotic gases (Tritium? BZ? H2?) to stimulate their fungal composites with brawn some, Ethereals could utilise a minor overcharge or further benefits from power bars/empowered burgers to pack on glowing mass.
- Although Moths can safely consume Protein and standardised foods, why not allow consumption of gym attire to yield similar bonuses as the above?
- Gains decay over time and increase your rate of hunger proportionate to how many bonuses you stack. Expect to be choking down whole pizzas and boxes of donk-pockets if you wanna stay swole. Plasmamen breathe harder, faster.
- Abusing chems whilst training causes low ticking heart damage and can give you a Roid Rage moodlet (Your speech changes to Hulk, strong negative moodlet otherwise).
- Going too long without supporting your gains with food gives you a Hangry moodlet (similar to the above).
- Stacking two or more bonuses adds something like 'X's time in the gym has paid off', 'Y is clearly the boss of this gym', 'Z possesses the ideal body type. You may not like it but this is what peak performance looks like.' etc etc as decriptors when examined.
- Stacking two or more bonuses also changes the text of 'You examine X' to 'You 'mire Y'.
- Working out too much makes you sweaty/smell bad and more likely to spread disease. Take a shower.
- Two buffed individuals that 'mire each other gain temporary strong positive moodlets.
- Two or more Roid Ragers gain even worse moodlets when in close proximity, or even bare-handed damage bonuses/a chance to use Psychotic Brawling moves against each other.
- The Roid Rage and Hangry moodlets give extra descriptors on examination, i.e., 'X's face has turned bright purple, contorted in fury.'.
- Achievements gained by a completely Vegetarian/Vegan bulk & cut or stacking all three.
Why I believe that this is good for the game:
- By adding an extra layer to Dorms it will make their gym sections a lot more lively on both HRP and LRP, not just with players aiming to reap the benefit of a good workout; but also in the creation of potential dynamics such as waterboys running them their necessary upkeep, coaches offering both legit and illicit support to gymgoers, and chefs setting up stands to supply eager customers.
- This will intensify demand for good food and produce from the Kitchen and Botany respectively. Pharmacies may suffer a deluge of roid-hungry lanklets on the ascent.
- This will make Prisoners slightly more dangerous to contend with if they can maintain properly, and give them more to do.
- This will ideally contribute to and motivate melee discourse away from stun baton meta, toward a healthier mix of risk-reward and calculated odds in getting up close and personal.
- I don't believe that it breaks tot builds by combining it with carp/FotNS. For one, these require multidisciplinary effort to use (hunting for supplements, investing time at the gym, gains and hunger maintenance after) and are rendered more obvious by time spent training and the extra descriptors on examination. It also gives loyal crew increased measures to defend against these oft-used boning methods outside of the click-baton-on-spessman route.
- Can you imagine an entire Revolution promulgated around indoctrinating crew into a regimen of Steak and Deadlifts?
- Furthermore, can you imagine a Chapel dedicated to pure and blessed bulking with an all-natty diet?
