It is much more enjoyable to sate your curiosity by experimenting in-game than to read the Wiki, and I don’t think anyone should be faulted for not reading the Wiki.Epicgamer545 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 4:06 pm But the wiki specifically states that emagging the meteor sat does nothing good. I argue that curiosity isn’t a valid reason when the information is right there for you to read.
There is a large part of this game, I’m sure you’d agree, which is “huh I wonder what this does *does the thing.” It doesn’t have to be more complicated than that. A cost-benefit analysis and outside research shouldn’t have to be done on every little mechanic before you try it out. That said if your test causes grief and damage you open yourself to getting slapped for it - but did it in this case?Epicgamer545 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 4:06 pmBesides, even if there’s a chance nothing bad would happen, it still does nothing good in general. It doesn’t help anything at all, and it has the intention of increasing chances in their favor in order to cause destruction to the station. In this case, it is opening themself to being accused of grief.
That's fine, but if your curiosity sating fucks up the round for other people, or seriously risks doing so, it's your ass.sinfulbliss wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 5:47 pm It is much more enjoyable to sate your curiosity by experimenting in-game than to read the Wiki, and I don’t think anyone should be faulted for not reading the Wiki.

Objectively yes.sinfulbliss wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 5:47 pm That said if your test causes grief and damage you open yourself to getting slapped for it - but did it in this case?

Side note, he did in fact read the wiki prior to this.sinfulbliss wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 5:47 pmIt is much more enjoyable to sate your curiosity by experimenting in-game than to read the Wiki, and I don’t think anyone should be faulted for not reading the Wiki.Epicgamer545 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 4:06 pm But the wiki specifically states that emagging the meteor sat does nothing good. Fair enough that he thought that it might be outdated, but he absolutely should have asked admins before playing around with an emag.DevinXoptoh wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 5:50 pm however, it was not to my knowledge that emagging the shield sats actually still caused meteors to have a higher chance of happening, I thought it was old code due to the outdated wiki.

Pumpkin went over it in the banning thread and orangebottle had to explain to you that catastrophic meteors were spawned from it.sinfulbliss wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 4:43 amOk? How’s that affect anything? Was damaged caused or not. I feel like that’s all that really matters. Permabanning someone for doing something that COULD have caused damage is dumb.
Pumpkin never stated the damage caused, they specifically said “that may or may not” have caused damage. DoB also is making an assumption that the meteors caused damage, maybe it’s a reasonable one, again no one knows what tangible impact this actually had except the people there in the round.carshalash wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 4:52 amPumpkin went over it in the banning thread and orangebottle had to explain to you that catastrophic meteors were spawned from it.sinfulbliss wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 4:43 amOk? I think giving him the same sentence that he’d get if he were to bomb the entire station into smithereens with no survivors and then stick the finger up at the admin, is a little much yeah. Month or two would’ve been fine and accomplished the same goal.Fren256 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 2:24 pm "Your Honor, even though my client knowingly sabotaged the nuclear power plant, possibly destroying the reactor and putting thousands of lives in danger, no damage was done thanks to the security measures that were previously there.
