grappling relative uselessness
hi i think grabbing people besides tabling is pretty worthless and i think changing it so it restricts movement would be nice. as it is, grabbing someone past passively is basically impossible and nigh useless. i think it should restrict your ability to move outside one tile (so the immediate tile next to the grappler) in order to break the grab you would have to knock them down, out or perhaps resist out? this would provide a non-stun way of holding people still, while still allowing them to fight back. many people seem to think that stun based combat is terrible (not that i'm of that opinion myself necessarily) more restrictive grabbing would go a long way to solve this, while buffing changeling absorb (which desperately needs it considering nobody that knows about absorb DNA sting ever uses it)
uh and then you could make some other antags use it or something i dunno
thoughts ??? thx

You should be able to throw people/mobs at other people, stunning them both very briefly if they hit.
Also wall slamming, for damage but no stun.

Pretty damn sure this exists already. Throwing someone into a wall does 20 brute.lumipharon wrote:Also wall slamming, for damage but no stun.
I'd love to see the grab intent have more use, but it's a hard balance to not make it too powerful with just a passive grab. I can't think of any way you could really buff it without it being insanely good.

Re: grappling relative uselessness
well the second stage of grab is hands
so why not give the grabee a grab on the attacker as well, so they both can't move outside the grab until either one is pushed down or the grab switches to passive/thirdstage again? that way when you grab you commit yourself to being close, even if it might turn into a disadvantage for you
or something basically i don't know i just start topic ok you guys figure it out

I read this thread title as "Groping Relatives"
Anyway, grapple is insanely good. The third stage is a permanent stun. You can table someone, triple grab them and keep them down, strip them, beat them into crit or just choke them. It's really strong.

Re: grappling relative uselessness
^I agree. I broke out of a Brig cell using this. I just banged on a window with my bedsheet to annoy the officer. As soon as they got near the flasher button I put it on my back really quick and they had no choice put to try to rambo it. They rushed in with stunbaton and I ran around so that I was blocking the space to the windoor. Then I pushed them down and instead of taking the baton, I switched intent and grabbed them. They were too busy reach for the baton so they didn't bother resisting and so by the time they realized what I was doing I had the in triple hold and I just ran away.

Make it so that you get a kill grab with both hands you snap the person's neck, putting them in crit at -180 health

There is one great outcome from this: I rised up the blood pressure of some of you shitheads and lowered your lifespan. I'm honestly tempted to do this more often just to see you screech and writhe more, but that wouldn't be cool of me. So come on haters, show me some more of your high blood pressure please.

I remember the days when you could passive throw people, and the people thrown wouldn't be stunned, but whoever they hit were.
Two assistants could walk into security and pacify all of the officers just by tossing each other on them.
Good times.
