BLUESHIT TOGAYTOS
obligatory asspain thread
Bluespace Tomatos slip (for some reason? I guess you step somewhere else in bluespace? And lose your balance?), cannot be caught when thrown, and teleport you to a myriad of exciting locations, some of which may be inescapable or lethal. Nobody is ever punished for throwing these, you can grow them like they're nothing in certain circumstances, and particularly evil people like to throw them in the middle of hallways, where people will slip on them and throw them at each other because IT'S FUN.
Also, I lost everything to blueshit togaytos in a round and I'm really salty. Nerf please.

I hucked a few during that eight hour round.
Never seen em before or sense, Most botanists don't seem to make them.
They are an amazing item. I just wish eating them could teleport you too.

Re: BLUESHIT TOGAYTOS
Botany is actually a prime source of grief.
It takes literally zero effort to get 100 potency bananas, blue tomatoes or bluespess tomatoes, and they NEVER EVER GET IN SHIT for leaving literally hundreds of them out for people to use and slip on, or in case of bluespace, quite possible die.
I don't understand how people can get bwoinked for 'inciting greytide', but it's perfectly fine to leave 500, 20second stun items all over the floor.

Re: BLUESHIT TOGAYTOS
100 potency peels really should've been nerfed from 20 second stuns to 10 seconds when electrodes and other stuns were. Seems like an oversight by the coders.
Bluespace tomatoes are really fun, it's just a shame they have the chance to space people. I threw a lot of them during the 8 hour round, not realising they had the chance to space, and was eventually spaced myself by someone throwing them back at me in retaliation. I was outside the station, and might've gotten back inside if not for the carp that immediately swarmed me.

In the past admins tend to turn a blind eye towards any actions the crew takes against Botanists who litter the hallways with banana peals and the like.

Re: BLUESHIT TOGAYTOS
Peels are managable in-game. Tomatos throw you way the fuck away with the only way to avoid this fate being the thrown tomato missing (which may be difficult if theres tomatos all over the damn place).
Just remove the stupid slip. It's a dual-purpose grief tool and it's a little silly.

Yeah. Botany flooding peels makes them 100% valid to be annihilated, as previous banrequests by butthurt botanists have proven

Bluespace tomatoes are a prime source of hilarity when used with consent and an excellent murder tool when used creatively by a traitor. I say remove the slipping function on them and tighten policies for when non-antags poop them out everywhere (similarly to how a non-antag scientist can't leave bombs everywhere for traitors to use).

Not once has an admin actually done something.
I either get:
A: No response
B: Lel
C: They didn't use the peels themselves, blame the people that dropped them.
So maybe you do shit on botanists for doing this, but many others don't.

Re: BLUESHIT TOGAYTOS
ITT: People who have no fucking clue how botany works bitch about botany.
Bluespace tomatoes slip because they evolve from blue tomatoes, which also slip. Both contain lube. It's not unintended behavior. Like all the other botany slips, slip length is proportional to potency. Getting bluespace tomatoes is actually somewhat difficult, because it's the result of two mutations, one of which is a 1/3 chance, so if you have a 50/50 chance of killing a plant or mutating it you have to spend something like 12 seeds and several large beakers of mutagen, on average, to get bluespace tomatoes. Sometimes the botanist gets lucky, but, then, there's botany for you. If the primary concern is the slips, the blue tomatoes that bluespace tomatoes evolve from are pretty much always gonna be accessible to a botanist who has bluespace tomatoes in the first place, and given that they contain nothing but lube and ketchup I dunno how you can justify removing slips from them. Banana slips could use a good nerf because they're much easier to get, since it costs a lot less mutagen to mutate an existing species than to try and mutate a whole tech tree from basic tomatoes.
Bluespace tomato teleport teleports the player a random distance away capped at potency/10. So hundred potency tomatoes will not space you unless you're right near space: if you're in the interior of the station (less than about half a screen away from space) you don't really have to worry about dying to bluespace teleport. It amuses the fuck out of me that you guys whine about the banana slips and the tomato blinks when deathnettles are strictly better than eswords, can be mutated from a fuckin' empty tray with the mlg pro technique of waiting a while and then spamming mutagen on the tray, and can be produced 20/harvest with patience and a little luck.
In conclusion, Botany is a land of contrasts. If you want Botanists to be more helpful, give 'em more helpful shit to do. Some months back Goofball switched all the good healing chems in plants for salglu, so other than deus and reishi Botany can't really do shit for Medbay anymore. Fuckin' cooks never want shit but wheat and tomatoes. Botanist has nothing useful to do once the dank reaches 100 potency, why not gift the clunwe some nanners?
EDIT: Also make plantpeople better, damn, being an alternative to Medbay for cloning is something the botanist can do other than griff.
MORE EDIT: Also the bluespace tomatoes really come into their own as a griff tool at lower potencies, where they essentially replicate the wizard blink spell and are almost as good as all access ID.

- It's not only possible but surprisingly easy to space yourself with bluespace tomatoes outside of/inside botany because of the weird shape of hydroponics maint and the pockets of space in there. About as easy as someone making hand tele portals near the bridge, I'd say, except with the same understanding that people being shit with the tele can get dunked.
- New cooking actually has made botany marginally more useful to the chef, as now they need stuff like corn (for tortillas), but the problem here is really just uncreative chefs.

Re: BLUESHIT TOGAYTOS
Goon chem hurt botany a lot.
Good potency plants used to be very potent healing items, and with a bit of effort you could cover all the main damage types well.
On top of that, dank had tricord or some shit, and deus had synaps an hyperzine on top of that.
Now days, nothing useful in terms of healing but omnizine in dues, which can also OD and kill you extremely easily. Hell, even SPACE DRUGS can cause an OD.

Nothing wrong with strong things in hydro.
Admins really should ban for potentially teleporting people to death and the chance for it to space someone should increase really. Not every disaster should be tied to engineering and toxins, I eagerly away the bluespace tomato massacre of 2015.

Botany healing was always neat, because you could get a high potency deus leaf/poppy, stick it on your head slot of MAD SWAG, then eat it in emergencies.
Also plant bags full of poppies/green grapes/etc were super efficient healing/storage wise.

Too bad the current PR is basically turning things from "slow healing chem" to "moderately healing chem with tox damage to offset it" so that you have to grow even more different plants for charcoal (none of which are available at roundstart) just to achieve the same result
