Give bullets a chance to become embedded or pass through
I think making bullets have a chance to become embedded and requiring to be removed surgically (or with ghetto analogues) would make some weapon choices used more IE shotguns, all of the syndicates arsenal etc plus realism
This could be balanced around having a semi-random chance to pass through based on what body part it hits, mainly the chest/groin/head having higher chances to embed, arms and legs having lower chance to embed and having through-and-throughs, pass-throughs can increase bleeding or just have the standard as it is now bleeding/damage. Embedded bullets could also have a small chance to bounce around and cause further damage or debilitating effects like piercing lungs causing you to suffer oxygen damage slowly, or piercing your heart causing massive bloodloss or even death (maybe make this a really low chance or nonexistant on small calibers), perforating your stomach and making you vomit blood etc all sorts of bad shit
This could be countered by being augmented or wearing body armor to reduce penetration, or wearing bulletproof body armor to almost nullify chest penetration (limbs would still be vulnerable unless you're in an armored hardsuit)
The game doesn't need a full-real scale of calibers but I think having penetration/embedded bullets would make the crew a lot more vulnerable to bullets, as they should be - most crew are not armored, melee has armor penetration and this would buff bullet based weapons (which have the huge drawback of having to be reloaded, limited ammo, and easily healable brute damage. This is almost a buff to sec vs bullet based weapons)

Yeah but guns are already strong enough.
This would just tip them harder in the op scale.

Time to buff energy weapons to make them on par. ;^)D&B wrote:Yeah but guns are already strong enough.

Why not make everyone have one hp? Then no need for buffs at all!

Only way this would work is if you reduced ballistic damage but made them almost always cause bleeding, and lot's of it, plus a high chance to embed.

Re: Give bullets a chance to become embedded or pass through
sounds lame because the way the embedding system works means that these would do like maybe 10 brute damage over the course of 5 minutes and the biggest repercussion would just be the bleeding which is hardly that big of a downside unless you're already at like 10 health or whatever

We have x-lasers and sniper rifles, cannibalize code from each and bam.
Also making guns do pathetic damage against anything not a human is a retarded idea. Just add this as a bonus, there are practically no guns on the station by default anyways.

At the very least, it may be interesting to have embedded bullets be recoverable to add another posthumous clue for security to use for super sleuthing.

Make it so that bullets can be matched to the gun that fired them.IkeTG wrote:At the very least, it may be interesting to have embedded bullets be recoverable to add another posthumous clue for security to use for super sleuthing.

That'd be a neat trick, but very pointless. The only time sec sees a traitor's gun they're either about to get shot or about to shoot them. Either way, you already know who it belongs to-- the guy who fired it.

You can already kind of do this with casings.Luke Cox wrote:Make it so that bullets can be matched to the gun that fired them.IkeTG wrote:At the very least, it may be interesting to have embedded bullets be recoverable to add another posthumous clue for security to use for super sleuthing.
