there is no reason that coders, as volunteers for the project, cannot accept commissions for code whether this is a good thing and whether it should be allowed is up for debate, but as it is there's nothing stopping J_Madison from doing this, nor from any coders accepting his offer also: https://git...

Here, I guess I'm being unclear. The major bugs with that PR were caused by minor logic errors causing issues that could only be discovered (not reproduced) on the live server. Those aren't what I'm talking about. I'm talking about really minor things that caused immediately noticeable bugs. You cou...

That's what I did, though. I touched ventcrawling and didn't even attempt to test it. Same with freezers, heaters, cryo tubes and air alarms. I didn't even try to interact with them; isn't that the same?

I guarantee you that he did test it. He ghosted and tried to buckle and it didn't buckle, so everything seemed to be working. Seriously though, the idea of blacklisting coders who cause major bugs by failing to test pisses me off. I once accidentally broke atmos in a variety of ways. The first way w...

Yes, I know; mine does the same, but you can also make it only check objects of a certain type that didn't qdel properly, which helps de-clutter logs.

So what about our two new interim headmins who'll have the job until elections? Are they gonna keep the Game Master rank for their one month (at most) of hard work? That wouldn't seem very fair, given that sticky went nearly full term afaik and did much of it solo, or given that STP stepped down due...

That's pretty similar, yeah, but it lacks some of the finer functionalities of my (well I mean I sort of adopted old code and added to it) implementation, particularly the fact that with mine you /only/ need to check objects that you want to, which makes for less lag and less clutter. Nonetheless I'...

Re: Should I run for headmin?
The separation of coderbus and server should be encouraged as much as possible. As in they should be encouraged to stay as far away from the server as much as possible. Then we can create our own fork and finally readd some of the robustness we've lost over the years. Cool, this made it really easy...

Or, "oh god I am so angry about the fact that nobody told me about this". So, in a PR I'm currently working on that's completely irrelevant to the discussion at hand, I was running into qdel issues. Despite my best efforts to clean up all the references, I simply couldn't get them all, and...

To summarize what I was saying on IRC: Death Squad is, absolutely, an overpowered force. I would have no objections to DS having 90% damage resist on all damage types. They're fucking OP. However, they are not invincible. Some of my best stories about this game involved a small band of people taking...

MSO is, without a doubt, making the right decision. I want HG gone as much as the next guy, but there needs to be an official impeachment process. This is a fantastic idea, Robustin. The surveys should be anonymous unless indicated otherwise by the survey-ee. There should be a couple different surveys, I'd think. One could be a simple poll; "On a scale of 1 to 5, how much did you enjoy your round?" Another could be a little more exte...

Relics are great. Removing the pipe dispensers from atmos would be like removing mules from cargo! Why are relics great? They're bloat. Pointless. Pipe dispensers are completely outclassed by the RPD. If you have an RPD, the pipe dispenser is useless. Besides, there are three atmos job slots + CE b...

Note: that meant the machine, not the RPD. The machine is a redundant relic whose purpose is completely achieved by the RPD. RPDs are player friendly; instead of leaving pipe dispensers we're gonna make RPDs the baseline. What would you want the big dispensers for, anyway?

Re: Holographic pipe drawing and pipe bot
There was one idea in coderbus yesterday about a sort of lesser RPD that could be found around the station for anyone (assistants) to use, but they'd cost metal to make pipes. As long as real RPDs are kept the way they are then that would work just fine. Also we're going to completely remove normal ...

It was simple to get him removed from his headcoder position because he and Cheridan set an explicit minimum expectation of activity to keep that role. HG didn't meet that quota, so he was removed. Claiming lack of knowledge of rules is not an excuse, as it is a breach of the terms (knowing and following the rules) of the implied license the server gives you to play on it. Chloral Hydrate is a toxin alone. Giving people medicine as non-antag is fine, because its purpose is to heal them. If it doesn't do that, it may not be your fault.
Chloaral Hydrate, on the other hand, is exclusively for hurting people. Its purpose is to harm. These are very different things, man.
