It might be better as a random event in longer rounds, something like how swarmers work. Then there isn't the issue of them not having a win condition, and getting instantly wiped out wouldn't remove the only antags.

The general consensus seems to be that the other races should be downgrades to humans in the majority of situations, so people are pretty hesitant to buff them in any way.
