The network delay is going to contribute to lag, so it's an easy win to move it to the server.

So it has come to my attention that the database is hosted on a seperate server than the game.

They should really be hosted in either the same datacenter or ideally the same server.

Look lizard is really more of a test to ensure mutantrace datums work correctly than any actual feature filled gameplay mutant races lets us do cool stuff later down the track. If you have multiple monitors, byond will only work correctly on the monitor that is set as primary, otherwise no popup windows (like the join game one) will appear.

This guide worked pretty well

You can also avoid monsters if you just cut a path around through the rock and never enter the premade passages, it's almost as relaxed as old mining!

I rather imagine that the excessive population bursts that cause us to open up a second server every now and again are perhaps cyclic in nature. Some feature is released or some new report is made, an influx of players arrive. We reach a point where two servers can be sustained, then as time goes on...

The general consensus in coderbus is the ninjacode is fucked and it needs a rewrite or removal. So it's unlikely anyone will be willing to tweak it heavily.
