machine override/overload UI

Post by CPTANT » #152754

I just noticed when playing traitor AI that the interface for machine overload and override is horrible.

You are just given a list of all things on the station and have to select whatever you want to override/overload.

It's so bad that the ability is almost unusable.

On the topic of new ui, the cargo ui is pretty bad. Having all the crate options on one screen makes it way too big, harder to find what you want and slightly laggy. Also you can't give reasons for ordering crates as far as I can tell
Arthur Thomson says, "Since there are no admins I would loging with another account and kill you"
Caleb Robinson laughs.
Arthur Thomson catches fire!

You know there's a filter right? Anyway I didn't make cargo techs give reasons because usually they should approve requests. that's a one line change though. And I'm switching the UI to be tabbed so it loads faster.

ohw wait it ALSO adds a menu option under right click, why does that list exist in the first place then?

In the upper right corner, there is a filter box. Y'know, for search.

No its on fancey.

WHY WOULD ESSENTIAL INTERFACE FEATURES BE LOCKED BEHIND A FANCY BUTTON IN THE FIRST PLACE

Because "Fancy" is really the toggle between "You have an old version of IE" and "You have ie 9+"
The way the search function was implemented simply doesn't work on IE8 and below.

SO UPDATE YOUR FRIGGIN IE.

Because internet explorer 8 is not capable of supporting filtering?

Nobody uses IE, but you still need it for a lot of things because many programs were built around it.

Well then, something is bugged. Double check. You should see a filter box like:

Right click your target, and select the appropriate verb from the menu.

Yes already found that, but my question remains: Why does clicking the overload/override button give a list of things to overload/override? That list is completely unusable and is confusing.

Nobody said you had to -USE- IE, you just need it installed.
If you don't have it installed, you have IE6 (Built into windows!)
Fancy features need IE9 or more.
Even if you have it on Fancy, if you're not on IE9 or more it just isn't going to work!
