The SMES starting at 0 charge, rather than 20%.
1. WHY
2. Seriously whose brilliant idea was this was it papsmear
3. Could there at least be a fucking changelog for this shit? Or, preferably, a server notice, like when the SMES room was moved in the first place. Otherwise the singularity will get loose, because people expect it to have charge to power the fields.
4. Can someone provide a new step by step guide to the sing, as the one on the wiki is now worthless.

Re: The SMES starting at 0 charge, rather than 20%.
Huh, that sounds like a bug.
I think there was even a PR that got merged that RAISED the amount of charge the engine SMES starts with.
Though, that PR did also make all of the other SMES start with 0% charge to prevent people taking SMESs apart and putting them back together for free power.
That may be related.

Wow, I feel so out of touch with engineering.
But based on my recollections, would it not be possible and maybe even more interesting to charge the smes units with solar energy before completing the sing?
Might be more worthwhile than the rounds where solars aren't even bothered with, due to lord singuloth providing more than enough power.

Possibly, but this means the station's power is generally fucked fast due to the SMES starting at 0 charge.

Re: The SMES starting at 0 charge, rather than 20%.
This is a bug or accidental revert or something as far as I know because before we had 3 SMES cells at zero charge, we had 4 SMES cells and at least one of them had charge.

The wonders of leaving a PR open for so long it causes hilarious conflicts like this.

It was actually pretty fun to setup the pacman and I think all the engineers who played during this time learnt a valuable skill (How to bootstrap the engine with the pacman)

I don't play engineer much these days, could you go into more detail on this valuable skill so I can add it to the wiki
(but the singlo being loose in <5 minutes and/or the entire station being near-powerless almost every round was the opposite of fun, fuck)

10/10 change. Now all we need is to remove the singuloth gen, the emitters, and so on, along with the solars, forcing engineering to set everything up from scratch every round.

Is a bug. Was fixed.
I like the idea of having to use the PACMAN, though.

Step 1) Crowbar open floor tile in front of teh doors leading to singularity
Step 2) From the tile above click on the opened tile with some wire to form a knot
Step 3) Place pacman on the opened tile
Step 4) Wrench it into place
Step 5) Feed pacman some plasma
Step 6) When the engine is ready to go, activate pacman
Step 7) Designate someone to watch the pacman during the dangerous stage and ensure it stays on
Step 8) Start engine as normal

Alternative version for Meta:
0) If locked: Crowbar secure storage open after disabling engineering APC.
1) Grab plasma from crate in secure storage.
2) Go to Engineering EVA prep.
3) Wrench down PACMAN, it is already pre-wired.
4) Insert plasma.
5) Set-up engine.
6) Push button on PACMAN.
7) Set-up containment.
8) Push button on singularity.
9) Push button on PACMAN again. (SHUT IT OFF, DAMMIT. PLASMA AIN'T FREE.)
