KNOWN BUGS:
- Adding previously drawn cards back to the deck, then shuffling the deck, will cause the deck to "break" eventually due to code-related reasons. Just... don't shuffle it for now

Re: Cards Against Spess
That is an unintended, but hilarious, side effect. The same could be done with regular playing cards, at any rate.
The moral of this story is, what would get people to actually play it?

Re: Cards Against Spess
Nothing really, for me personally. Playing it in SS13 means
-A clunky interface
-Being blown up/shuttle called mid game
-No voices (best part of CAH is everyone laughing, for me anyway)
-Various other small annoyances like people complaining that you're not participating in the round/are metafriening/whatever
I could go play it in person or online for free and have a much better time of it.
That said I have never seen the appeal of any minigames in SS13, so I am probably not the target audience. Sorry if this is overly negative, but the hurdles to trying to play a card game in SS13 just do not seem worth overcoming to me.

I have a hard enough time getting 2/3 people together for a couple rounds of low-stakes blackjack, the interface is too much for it to be easy

add customer ghost sleepers to the bar spess ruin and add the cardsCosmicScientist wrote:bandit wrote:That is an unintended, but hilarious, side effect. The same could be done with regular playing cards, at any rate.
The moral of this story is, what would get people to actually play it?Oh and maybe add in some paper and pens for a write-your-own-response game to get a dank maymay. I don't know if you'd want to be the dedicated taker of card responses/the host to make sure everyone's playing fair/at least you won't go AFK.
- Set up a table and chairs in the thunderdome.
- Ask ghosts for volunteers and tell them where to teleport to watch.
- Say the ghosts get to vote on who wins each round.
- The overall winner gets an e-sword or a meme weapon to kill the others/invade the station with if the round is dragging on.
- Play again if the round hasn't gone on too far/you want to do it again.

Re: Cards Against Spess
Remember when people used to host D&D sessions in library? What happened? The answer is: memes happened. People don't want to play THE RP GAME, they rather ghost and fish for antags.Wyzack wrote:I have a hard enough time getting 2/3 people together for a couple rounds of low-stakes blackjack, the interface is too much for it to be easy
So you need to exploit it, and play high stackes blackjack, loser has to suicide. You'd be surprised how easy is to get people to play. Problem solved.

Blank cards are already in the deck.CosmicScientist wrote:Oh and maybe add in some paper and pens for a write-your-own-response game to get a dank maymay. I don't know if you'd want to be the dedicated taker of card responses/the host to make sure everyone's playing fair/at least you won't go AFK.

Re: Cards Against Spess
The deck starts out with 10 blank cards out of 150 (I might tweak this number, idk) that you can use a pen on. The PR that fixes the bug in the OP also fixes a separate... I wouldn't call it a bug but an oversight, where they never get shuffled out of the bottom of the deck.
