twin stations
Two identical stations are side by side, roughly fifty tiles apart or so. They'd all be about the size of mini, maybe even smaller. Each station has it's own security force, captain, and command staff. Basically entire duplicates of each department. They'd share the same lavaland base and gulag.
The perma wing is a third station- largely abandoned with a relatively safe prison area and then a possibly randomly generated dungeon type thing complete with hostile mobs and better loot as the dungeon gets harder. It would be very difficult to escape from.
To get from station to station, there would be a shuttle, which can be sabotaged making it possible to isolate one of the stations from the other. This shuttle would be found in a public area so it's difficult to sabotage. A shuttle in each station's security department will go to the prison wing. Mining's shuttle will cycle between the two stations and lavaland, ditto for the gulag shuttle.
Each station gets its own cargo shuttle. Their points are counted separately, and whichever station gets the most points at the end of the round wins. (Your role is also counted in terms of what station you started on.) RnD is also counted separately- basically all progression is.
Miners will fight over the minerals, security will send illegal immigrants to the opposite station to sabotage their operations, and it'll be generally hilarious.

Yes, of course. If there was a way to separate the two station's manifests though, that would be good. That way you can realistically have immigrations officers checking everyone as they enter, but it would take time.

I want them to be on different sides, but the conflict would be more of a trade war than anything. The crew of each station shouldn't have antagonist status to kill the other station with- but minor sabotage is okay. (destroying cargo/mining shuttle consoles, sure, greytiding sec, sure, but arming up and massacreing the whole crew isn't okay)

Each station has it's own individual comms channels in its own telecomms. To address some other questions about interstation interaction: PDAs go across stations. Common channel is cross station, departmental ones are not. With captain announcements, they would have to say captain (station one name) and captain (station two name) announces... Head announcements work similarly. Those are global though- they can be used to communicate. The comms consoles would be specifically coded for this map- they'd be able to send private/public messages to the opposite station.obscolene wrote:How would comms work?

when the station date is 9/11/25xx two huge explosions get spawned into both stations and then a giant shuttle is loaded through them

The mining shuttle cycling locations means the first station can intercept and mess with the second's mineral hauls. Of course, the second station would then have the abiity to cut of the first station from lavaland entirely since everything going down must pass through them first. This kind of emergent gameplay could be fun at first, but could cause the map to become "cargonia vs cargosia " pseudo-nations in the minds of some players.

Didn't mean cycling, woops. I meant that the mining shuttle will accept any three docking locations as a docking point.

I think the uniforms for each station would need an identifying marker so you can distinguish who is from what station at a glance. This doesn't stop folk from taking the other stations uniform as a disguise.
