This is just based on who is usually giving the orders, carrying the specialist equipment, saving everyone from being dead, just shooting shit, etc.

I consider that pretty high praise when it's a role I know everyone kinda fights over.

To their credit, my recent best moments as a sniper were facilitated by PAS as my spotter. Our mission to kill that drug lord by the downed helicopter could've gone to shit if I weren't providing covering fire, and I wouldn't have been able to do that without PAS being on point both spotting targets and relaying information to me (high/low, left/right, popups).

I'd be happy to be the unit's designated marksman, but I've ascended to the next level of Arma scrubbery;

Always wanting to be the pilot or guy with a grenade launcher.

I left the server up and running for a good six hours or so earlier. A few of us operated together.

I have mastered the art of taking over points by myself through the use of this badass flying death machine here, and a single AI co-pilot. It's only a matter of days now before we have this whole continent to ourselves.

Alternatively a Ghost Hawk and a ton of AI dudes works so-so.

If I really sperg out I can control both helicopters and a squad of AI's all at once. It's pretty fucking involved though. The AI troops have a really weird rate of either getting obliterated by enemy vehicles or noticing them and immediately destroying them. I wish there were better postures for giving them permissions to use their rockets and heavy equipment on armor, as is it seems like you have to do it manually. Eg. opening up the map and manually telling a squad's AT guy to pop armor (before the whole unit gets obliterated). Eg. manually taking control of your gunner's weapons and locking/firing the missiles yourself.

Oh I also flew a bunch of CARGO OPS so there would be more ammo for me to buy attack choppers with and other people to spend on tanks and shit later.

If you log on and are looking for something to do, or fucking around waiting for orders/other people to show up, SHLEP DAT SHIT. K64 needs his tanks. I need my helos. Our sacred artillery launcher PAS enshrined with cement barricades needs offerings.

I grabbed about 5 crates as well, since we had dipped below 1000 ammo. Also shot down the enemy CAS plane from so close that the explosion killed Zack and heavily injured me. Serves the kebab shitlord right for trying to buzz the hill we were on.

Until the last few days I'd never seen a Kebab plane before. Now they're spawning in pretty regularly.

I've shot a bunch down in my helo but it makes me really apprehensive about taking any kind of expensive ground vehicle. Fucking CAS birds all over the place wrecking my super expensive tanks no thank you.

I'm pretty sure it's due to the enemy's combat readiness. Basically as that percentage on the right gets higher, the more fortified enemy locations get, and the more vicious their counterattacks get. During ops last night it was up at the 80-90% level.

After experiencing multiple issues (certain looted guns not having proper sounds for non-shooting players, certain enemy types not appearing), I've decided to roll Leights OPFOR back to the previous version. People may need to roll their version back if they updated it recently. The latest version that is currently broken is 1.7.1.1, the working version is 1.7.1.

Also Cappy's starting an escape mission for those who are wanting ops. Just make sure that the Leights version is the correct, unbroken one though

Double posting to put up a query about mods. I've noticed that certain maps for Escape have introduced difficulties for people joining the server in progress, and I think that's due to us using a different map pack from the mission maker. So I'm thinking that we should possibly swap map pack from A3MP to CUP Terrains. As a comparison, CUP Terrains features these maps:
- Rahmadi
- Sahrani
- Southern Sahrani
- United Sahrani
- Porto
- Utes
- Chernarus
- Chernarus Summer
- Desert
- Takistan
- Zargabad
- Shapur
- Proving Grounds
- Bukovina
- Bystrica
- Takistan Mountains

Meanwhile, A3MP, which we currently use includes:
- Proving Grounds
- Shapur
- Utes
- Chernarus
- Takistan
- Zargabad
- Bystrica
- Bukovina
- Desert

So, there's a fuckton more maps, but of course the downside is a substantially larger download size. In total, it would be 8GB compared to the 1.3-ish. However I think the fact that a couple of the maps that are already in the list have the core module as a dependency means that people who have already downloaded the list already have the CUP Terrains - Core module already downloaded, which shaves off a tidy 6GB. Since this is a rather big change to the mods, I figured it'd be the type of thing to throw around here and see what you guys think before making any changes. My opinion on the matter is that the additional maps, and compatibility offsets the increased download size

EDIT: Can we maybe look into using this instead? I think something about PlayWithSix purposely downloads everything twice or some shit.

If we can just do a little bit of work on our own we could potentially turn this ArmaSync thing into something that works for dumbasses.

We need to either

A) Assemble our own mod repo and host it somewhere we can edit/update it and download it with a decent bandwidth

B) Go around collecting repo addresses for each individual mod we want to use and compile that into a list for people to import to ArmaSync

Well, I went ahead with the changing of map-pack. Seeing as PWS already downloads most of it anyway.In theory, the only observable difference is having nearly twice the amount of maps in exchange for re-downloading 1GB worth of stuff.

Figured out one source of bloat:

PWS downloads compressed versions of everything, and then decompresses them to install them.

By default it keeps both files for some dumb fucking reason, doubling the size of your mod folder.
Seriously the compression is so shit I wonder why they even bother doing this.
A lot of the file transfers are peer-to-peer so it's not like it's reducing bandwidth costs for any central server.

This software is such almighty shit holy fuck.

The save file for our Liberation game. It's kind-of weird, but basically you should rename it to <hostname>.vars.Arma3Profile and then drop it in your (C:\Users\<yournamehere>\Documents\Arma 3) folder. If you play using a second profile it goes in (...\Arma 3 - Other Profiles\<hostname>).

Eg. if cappy was going to host, rename the file Upgradecap.vars.Arma3Profile and drop it in C:\Users\SwedishDeathMachine\Documents\Arma 3 - Other Profiles\Upgradecap

Right, two pieces of news-ish stuff. Firstly, the modpack has been modified... again. Don't worry, it's nothing as ridiculous as changing map pack or anything like that. I've just added Thirsk to the list of maps. So it's an additonal 266MB for a pretty awesome map. Secondly, there will be operations at approximately midnight GMT. So that will be roughly 3 hours from now.

Well last night was pretty fun despite the hilarious mishaps. Tedward got blasted off of a crane twice, every single truck we found got destroyed before we could use it, and we ended up losing to unavoidable ggnore fuck you artillery simultaneously killing everyone

Well, Upgradecap found the best mission ever. Basically Mad Max deathmatchy stuff in Arma. Pretty much just strapping the most ridiculous props and weapons onto civilian vehicles then shooting each other with them. I managed to make a truck soar majestically through the sky... for about 10 seconds.
