It's X-Com you fucking pleb.
It's my favorite one by far as well. I'd wish Gollop made a spiritual sequel or something, because the game is deeply flawed for sure. Improve the cityscape, the factions and their dynamics, the covert actions (that were planned but never implemented because game was rushed out) and you have a goat.

Re: Xcom apocalypse YO!
the question is whether you wanna do toxiguns or devastator cannons
toxiguns are all nice and efficient and do nice damage to aliums and don't damage your own units or scenery and ignore shields so they're the precise operator's choice to take on investigations if you don't wanna piss off the owner of the building
compare and contrast:

X-com Apoc is one of the great X-com games. it seems like they ran out of funding partway through, but it's still good and I'd personally say better than the new ones out there.
Would love if they could do a remake that actually included all the good stuff they wanted to put in with the aliens infiltrating organisations and such, but without the boring crap the new 'xcom' games have for their tacticool lel rng crap.

Re: Xcom apocalypse YO!
There is infiltration. If you don't go out to kill aliens that landed they will eventually take over and the organization will become hostile towards you. It was just supposed to be more complex
The initial game design was definitely too ambitious and too complex. The aim was to recreate in some detail the events, organisations and personalities within a futuristic megalopolis. Each corporation had a leader who could be tailed, arrested, interrogated or assassinated. Organisations could buy and sell buildings as their financial fortunes changed. X-Com agents could spy on other organisations to gain valuable information. A sophisticated diplomacy display allowed the player to instigate aggressive or defensive alliances with other organisations. There were multiple alien dimensions, generated pseudo-randomly, and the aliens gradually expanded their empire as the game progressed.
All this thinking about Apocalypse made me remember how AMAZING the music was too, I mean holy fucking shit this ambient track...

Re: Xcom apocalypse YO!
Thats what I mean, yeah
Less "Regular check up/pest control visit" and more actual infiltration stuff like that.
I don't really consider what it has as infiltration. It is functionally equal to an organisation just getting pissy at you for not coming over and removing the xeno from their lawn, sadly.

I hope Xenonauts 2 does the focused city thing, instead of just remaking the first game or remaking the first game but under the ocean.
