Space Station 13, built in orbit around some shit little outer rim planet, has just been destroyed.

Likely due to dat fukken clown

You're one of the (1-5) survivors who made it to the escape pods.

Before it can launch, it'll need your names, a simple physical appearance, and what job you held aboard the station
(Read as, I'm running prepare carefully and can set up your characters a bit.)

Also, we'll need a landing site, and the first 3 volunteers will need to decide if it's worth bringing more people down.

That'll mean less food, medicine, and raw silver to start with.

First come first serve on the appearances, HOWEVER

Any additional signups will be the names used for other survivors coming down in the crash, because this is a modded game.

Crash Landing is the big one, and the most important right now, but we also have SyndieGlittertech and some QoL mods.

I'm also kind of bad at this kind of thing so we'll see how it goes.

Oh, he now has a basic passion for shooting and melee, one change I forgot to make

Body types are tied to profession, so you get to be a bit more beefy than intended.

There is a "civil servant" profession, but it disables some jobs, and considering most SS13 assistants can do anything, I rearranged the skills to have a few points in everything.

I'll let you guys decide on a crash site, though if you want this to go anywhere I don't recommend anything cold enough to where we can't get reasonable farm time in.

Wouldn't mind being a ranged specialist if we need one, otherwise just give me some form of utility we'll want, so basically whatever you feel like we'll need.

As far as crash sites, is there anywhere with mountains? I heard those were super op in this game because of the choke points they have, so if we want to win we can touch down near the base of one of those in like a grassy area.

I added Cold Lover because it's a pain to keep nudists alive in the winter if you don't want them cooped inside the dining room with the heater.

I'll likely still need to do it, but it'll keep her able to do stuff longer.

There are no corgis, so I can't bring Ian and Lisa, and huskies are large enough to be trained to rescue colonists and haul supplies.

If there's any changes to be made, I can dump the silver for other stuff. For example, I could dump half the silver and one of the survival rifles to get an Steelassault rifle.

I'm willing to do a mountain, but it's pretty easy to just coop inside and never get touched. Also, mountainous regions limit the amount of growable land until we research how to build hydroponics trays, and unless we get lucky with one of the crashing bits, we don't have anyone really strong in research.

I've got stuff to do today, so I won't be able to actually start until the evening, most likely.

I am cool with taking Zilean as a fourth even if it means less starting goods, but it is not really up to me. Also year round food supply is as easy as building walls around a dirt patch and adding a sun lamp and heater

Here's our landing site.

I decided on a hilly region with an April-Sept growth period

Immediately to the south of the crash site is an ancient structure, likely with cryptosleep pods and mechanoids inside.

The valley we landed in is defensible, and I'll have people putting up walls as soon as the crashing stops.

Our 2 rifles will be given to Caleb, as he has our highest shooting skill, and Krystal with our second highest.

Hanz and Richard are equally skilled, but Hanz is more passionate and will receive the pistol.

I have marked up a stockpile and growth zone, everyone but Krystal will be hauling supplies and fighting fires, while she'll handle getting our food supplies in order.

We have another group of crewmen nearby.

Brianna is old and useless and I'm content letting them bleed out, but the guy still walking is an excellent shot and the girl on the ground is missing an arm, but she is young, a decent shot, and skilled enough to justify saving her life with some medicine.

Hayhouse is 61, but the only disability he picked up from age thus far is cataracts.

His social skill is okay as well, so he'll make a decent warden.

Also of note, another pod crashed down nearby, loaded with hostile prisoners.
Most of them were killed on impact, but there is a critically wounded survivor.
They also seem to have an assortment of shivs and handguns, so we sort of lucked out.

And as a final update for now, the worst has come to pass.

One of the ship's station's nuclear reactors has came down, and it's damaged.

Right next to our camp.

Spoiler:

There are 2 options to get rid of it.

We evacuate everyone outside the hot zone and destroy it at range, which could take several days of shooting

Or

We evacuate everyone but one guy and have him disassemble it "safely".
They will likely take a near lethal radiation dose in the process, and may outright die.

Although, there is also a third option.

We let it stay, cordon off the area, and use it as a power supply.
It outputs power equivalent to a geothermal plant, but any ground within the circle will slowly turn into wasteland where plants won't grow, and anybody within the circle will pick up rads and get sick.

Even if ordered to stay out of the area, some colonists will path through the area anyway because they're retarded.

CR adds ammo counts to weapons before they need to reload, but ammo is still infinite.

Well, for guns.

Some turrets and the mortars use artillery shells.

The crashing has come to a close, and the fires should die by the next rainstorm.

Our crewmen are slightly irradiated, but nothing that should impact them long term.

They've all been told to avoid the area until I stockpile some metal to run a power cable to the reactor

We have moved shop to the next valley over, with a preexisting structure to take refuge in until we get some shacks set up.

There was another crashed pod, but the crewman on board lost his leg and I'm not keen on saving him as he can't even haul stuff.

Yes, but it's immune to fire damage, likely so it doesn't burn itself out.

As it is now, it forces players to do /something/ about it, even if that something is just keeping people away.

As such, he has been given the glorious task of plugging our base in to it.

bumping this dedthred because i started playing rimworld again after watching a youtuber called Rycon play it with a crazy modpack called the ultimate overhaul. Modpack was disbanded due to some kind of drama, but luckily some person forked a branch on git so i got ahold of it. Adds all kinds of crazy shit like increased complexity for all levels of crafting up to insane supertech shit like AI droids, stargates, orbital manufacturing plants and nuclear power. You can also now grind your foes into a biomass slurry for growing organs and stuff. it is fucking awesome and if people like (and Takeguru does not mind) i might jack up this thread to start my own game. Thoughts?
