Open RCT2

Post by Qbopper » #156807

So Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 is fucking great, it's this old ass tycoon game made in the 90s by one guy (who made it in fucking ASSEMBLY WHAT THE FUCK) - it runs fine for me on Windows 10 and a potato can play it, but some guys have been doing an open source remake. Not only that, but even if you don't own the original game, they provide a link to the demo on the download page which lets you play the game for free

Best part is, they added FUNCTIONAL MULTIPLAYER

https://openrct2.org/downloads Make sure to grab development builds, they've got more shit than the stable ones. (grab the launcher if you're on windows so you don't need to update manually)

You have literally no reason to not get this

There's also open transport tycoon for if you want to ensure the buses are never on time and trains are halted by falling leafs.

had a lot of fun with this a few months ago, unfortunately multiplayer wasn't really working well yet then so i hotseated with my friends

somehow, even though I put a lot of thought and effort into my rollercoasters by taking into account cart slowdown and banked turns and all that shit, my friend who just plopped down sharp corner after sharp decline still had rollercoasters with better intensity/excitement ratios

on the arrival shuttle, I saw the iconic toolbox on the ground. I clubbed myself in the head with it trying to figure out the controls.
Setting the tool box, now bloodied, back on the table; I went to heal myself with a medkit. I clubbed myself in the head with that too.
I've come a long ways from asking how to switch hands.

The HoP just toolboxes someone to death out of nowhere, then gets speared by a chemist who saw him murder a guy, then the chemist gets beaten to death because someone else saw him kill the HoP.
Tele-man somehow dies and gets its looted by an atmos tech who managed to use it to send two nuke ops to lavaland, who were then surrounded by several very angry people from earlier and some extra golems on top of it.
Captain dies, gets cloned/revived, lasers the guy holding the disk into crit to take it back.
Some idiot tries to welderbomb the AI hiding out at mining for no discernible reason.
Two permabans and a dayban, i'm expecting a snarky appeal from one of them soon. What the fuck.
