Your side of the story:
I was playing as the Warden on round 114436. There was a traitor with adrenals e-magging doors everywhere throughout the station, so all the Security staff split up to attempt to find him, including me. I was patrolling Science maintenance looking for the traitor then took a turn inside Xenobiology to see if he had run inside. Inside I saw two scientists, one Otto Von Brandt (ckey: GodHandFemto), that was covered in blood, and one Joey Bananas. (ckey: Biwwy) Otto Van Brandt was grabbing Joey aggressively.
I assumed there was a fight going on, so I moved in to break them up by shoving Otto. Otto Von Brandt shoved me back twice. I then assumed that he was hostile. I was unable to use my regular non-lethal Security equipment. My stun baton was too dangerous to use, mainly because the Xenobiology area that we were on was sealed off by firelocks and was dangerously close to several tables and walls that, if I were disarmed, would've resulted in them being able to take the baton. I didn't use my flash, flashbang, and pepper spray because Otto was wearing a gas mask and I didn't know if he had sunglasses under or not. I had a pair of energy and laser guns in my backpack, but I chose not to use them because of the close proximity of walls+tables and the fact that the situation didn't warrant immediate lethal force, so I chose to use a Krav Maga leg sweep as a stopping force.
Unbeknownst to me, Otto had taken damage earlier due to having been shot by a traitor with ballistic guns. I leg swept Otto and punched him a few times to knock him down before using my stun baton to stun him definitely. Joey then ran behind the firelocks that were next to us. I wasn't sure if Otto was a traitor or not, so I searched his pockets and his backpack. He didn't have much aside from several xenobiology items in his backpack and definitely nothing that would warrant him being suspected as a traitor, so I left his stuff on the ground and went back to chasing the e-magger.
Unfortunately, Otto had been brought to critical due to the punches, a fact that I wasn't made aware of until after I was contacted by Penterwast due to there being no indication of it during my stay in the room. The only indicator to this was a gasping emote that was made at 19:43:45.531, something that I couldn't have seen at that time since I was already on the Central Primary Hallway and on the way to the Brig.
This image helps exemplify the state of the room roughly. Note that the image represents DeltaStation as of 2018 and thus is outdated. The small closet north of Xenobio doesn't exist anymore, and there are additional firelocks on the north side of the room which were also closed at the time.

We continued talking on admin help throughout several rounds, where I calmly explained my disagreement with the judgment and also asked for the note to be revised due to the fact that it was very poorly worded to describe the situation in its first iteration. I then notified I'd be appealing the ban and the note.
Why you think you should be unbanned:
The act of critting Otto wasn't intentional. I used the effective tools that I had at my disposal to pacify him as a threat after he started shoving me without incurring additional danger to me or to Joey, who I thought was the victim at the time, with the punches after the leg sweep being an action out of adrenaline more than anything. I apologize profusely to Otto for accidentally killing him, but it was not what I wanted. I was acting on the suspicion that he was attacking Joey and wanted to put a quick stop to the situation so I could get back to stopping the Emagger, but I do not think I acted wrong in this situation at all and only wish that this situation is looked at in the view of what happened instead of the events in hindsight.
The note in question also prejudices against some of my intentions in this community in the future, so I would like to dispute it with the intention of removing it from my record.
