How can I set up a local test server?
Some difficulties with this, can someone point me to a how-to?
In game, I play the A.I Firmware, the French cyborg C.U.R.I.E, Aubrie Allen, and the lizard scum Skulks-Through-Maintenance.

If you want to actually set up git and start working on the game, http://tgstation13.org/wiki/Setting_up_git
If you just want to download the code, there's a link on the github page https://github.com/tgstation/-tg-statio ... master.zip

Launch Dream Daemon
Point it at the .dme in the root folder of the repo you have
Then hit Go. Hit the yellow arrow button when it becomes available to join.

On the topic of making a test server, how can I use Boxstation instead of Metastation?

BoxStation should be the default on the /tg/code. Did you get the right repository or did you install NTStation? In any case, tgstation.dm needs to be ticked and metastation.dm needs to be unticked in Dream Maker, under the MAPS tree folder.
Check out my MiniStation map, for low population servers. http://tgstation13.org/wiki/MiniStation
