Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Post by LiamLime » #138378

Okay so Star Wars is a thing lots of people care for and lots seem to be hyped for and lots seem to be super cynical about, etc.

I wanted to say something here, before the inevitable sea of disappointment after the movie comes out.

The movie will probably not live up to the Star Wars name, it will probably not "make up" for the 10 year gap between releases. But then again, literally nothing could. While VII prooobably won't be able to go toe to toe with IV - VI, it might become the sacrificial lamb for everyone to hate, so that Star Wars VIII can be liked.

If you hate the movie, don't worry! That should give you hope that VIII will be great! :D

Of course everyone hopes it will be amazing, but I highly doubt it has any hope in hell of making up for the 10 year gap in the minds of fans. We shall see!

Considering there was a fifteen year gap between Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace, I kind of doubt anybody cares about the ten year gap. Hell nobody was expecting more Star Wars.

I believe in Star Wars. I still believe. I have high hopes and so long as it's better than Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones I will be pleased.

Based on what I've seen the director do with Star Trek, I'm expecting this to be between "shit" and "meh".
It's easy to do a SW movie though.

I'm not a big star wars fan, but I'm looking forward to the new star wars movie. If it's good, then it's an enjoyable moviefilm and worth the price of admission. If it's bad, it is fucking GUARANTEED to deliver some HOT NEW MEMES for people to shitpost with.

I would, however, just like to mention in one trailer Black Jedi Man pulls out his lightsaber, and a storm trooper pulls out a fucking EXTENDABLE ELECTRIC NIGHTSTICK

I remember people criticizing Star Trek for feeling more like a Star Wars movie, so that does bode well. In addition, Abrams has placed a great emphasis on practical effects where possible, which has me relatively hyped. I'm cautiously optimistic for this. Everybody who made the prequels shit has had no input on this.

Also, am I the only one who feels like Kylo Ren resembles Revan a little? They obviously have nothing to do with each other, but they both have the whole cloak with the metal mask thing going on.

As far as I understand it most of the expandong universe shit set after the main movies was drivel so good thing it is non canon now. Only thing that sounds neat was maybe Thrawn but even then I get the impression it was a case of mediocrity being praised among pure shit. Basically even getting a mediocre movie will be the same for me, oh you raised something alright out of a mire of disappointment well done.

KotoR was pretty awesome. Probably the best thing to come out of the EU next to Thrawn since Thrawn is also fucking amazeballs.

Most of the EU is absolute fucking garbage though, so you're right there.

Quick tip, if you want to see this movie as soon as it comes out, don't.

It is going to be literally fucking hell on Earth, millions upon millions of people across the world will swarm every theater available on the day it comes out, congesting traffic and making it nearly impossible to find any kind of parking in the entire city, much less around the theater itself.

I know this because over 15 million people tried the Star Wars Battlefront Beta. People are hyped as fuck about the new movie, so wait at least a week before you see it.

Yeah kinda figured that was the case given how far ahead even small cinemas were offering advanced bookings.
