There is definitely a precedent as the Rotherham thing in Britain had the police blocked from investigating some parts because policians were involved. Also that time evidence just disappeared about a few more British Pedopoliticians

If you think the code they use isn't good enough, and way too simple to ever work. Remember, these are the people who legitimately use default passwords for what should be secure government stuff and think "It shouldn't matter what my password is if the system is secure enough"
