Yep its that time again! So, a dessert station. Everything we already got is cold, so why not hot?

Welcome to Dessert Station!


New power generation!

The sun of the dessert is hot, and so is the light! Giant mirrors reflect sunlight to boil water, to make steam, then to turbines!
The underground of the dessert is filled with rich lava and heat! For this NT has developed a geothermal power plant system, as well as using the mirrors as a secondary source of power.
Solar energy is very cheap, however even cheaper are often melted due to the heat! So instead, NT uses heat absorbers to create steam, and power a small tubrine.
This is likely to be used as emergency power, however it is not very efficient way of powering the whole station!
NT does not use a experimental SM engine on this station, due to the risks it makes exploding, and probably destroying the planet.

Atmospherics
Since the air of the planet is breathable, air is extracted inside. But, theres a problem. The air is filled with dust and sand, and tiny metallic pieces during a duststorm! You dont want to breathe that in, do you? So the air extracted will go through a filter, and cooled at the same time. Ah, fresh cool air! Metallic pieces can be collected, and even crystalized into materials!

Station Quirks

Water would be collected from deposits and a new material, Water crystals! Water crystals are solidified water from a unknown reaction from the planets lifetime. NT scientists are hard at work figuring these out!
Many years ago, this planet used to house many species, but a sudden out burst of a huge radiation storm from the planets
sun has weakened the outer atmosphere, as such letting more heat in. This, boiled the planet to crisps! Some creatures leaned to the safety of the underground, adapting to the environment, but some creatures stayed on the surface.
The dangers of the dessert are wide, and mostly huge! There are many predatory beings, often surviving off of scraps for food, and you are their buffet! The heat of the planet is hot enough to cook eggs on a piece of scrap metal! Hot! So, NT has developed a new type of endothermic jacket, that uses the energy of these water crystals to regulate the temperature. The air of the planet is perfectly safe to breathe, however its pretty hot!
The dangers of the dessert are balanced out with the loot! Duststorms are common within the planet, kicking around miniature metal particle that can hurt your lungs! Make sure to wear internals. Along with that, they will conduct lightning! Due to the heat sand hit by lightning will develop into a crystalline shape ore structure. These can be harvested for scientific data.
So we got dustorms, giant predatory creatures, and heat? Well, we got the underground too!

The undergrounds

The underground houses many of the planets still surviving life, the rock get harder the deeper you go. There are 3 main levels to the underground!
The Sandy Hallows
Sandy hallows, the first level is very unstable in most areas. Due to it being very unstable, cave collapse are common on this level. A species of pack like docile creature makes den in the walls, using it to protect their kin. The riches of the sandy hallows are mostly scare, but some are rewarding. Deposits of highly valuable minerals are sometimes in the rock, usually crystalline structures such as diamonds and emerald ore. Glass stalactite, and stalagmites are a common form around the cave, as lightening from above has shaped these from the ground. Mining in this level is avoided, due to how unstable the caves are.
The Quarta
The Quarta is a dense bio zone, filled with many life and tree like plants. It now contains most of the planets adapted wildlife, as the confliction between the sandy hallows and the frozen core has created a goldilocks zone. Coal and many other common materials are found on this level, as such it is the standard place for mining. It does not require internals to enter, however there are pockets of gas hidden inside the rock. This gas has not been fully discovered yet, but as reactive as plasma.
The quarta has some subzones, with their own climates.
The Gastric Swamps
decomposing matter from a leviathan type creature has produced gas pools around this area. The wildlife has adapted to the atmosphere, often as filter feeders, looking for the nutrients in the air. The air is toxic to humans, and very smelly. Dont let the clown spray this stuff on you, its pretty tough to get off! Due to the explosive nature of this area, it is for authorized personnel ONLY. No public mining expeditions. NT has only allowed spare amount of private mining missions, just for research material.
The Void
The void is a very, very dark place. You do not want to go into the void, it will make you go insane. Many have come in, and barely have anyone come out.
The void houses alot of bio luminescent wildlife, capable of driving you insane. The danger of the mind, is out weighed by the rewards though, as a alien society used to live here. This material made by this society is highly durable, and such is great for shuttle crafting. To mine in the void, you will need to join the Void Explorer program, by signing a wavier. NT cant get sued, can it? Just make sure, your mentally prepared.

The Frozen Core
The frozen core is what was the core of the planet, now frozen by unknown means. The heat of the sun kept the planet hot enough, but it got to hot. This is how life lived on the planet for many years. Due to the mass of the core, the gravity, and pressure here is intense. NT has engineered a exo skeleton, to keep you going in the high gravity environment. The cold of the core is a breather from the hot surface, the air is extracted from here to the surface as AC. Snow, is not common, its mostly rare. You will barely find snow here. However, the ice core is plentiful of many metallic materials, and some even shiny ones. The rock is dense with a iron, copper compound, mostly from the frozen core. For some reason, plasma is found richly in the deep parts of the planets core. This is essential to NT, so mining expeditions are common. NT has established a mining hub at this level notably named, Delta 12. Delta 12 houses a hangar for exosuits, a small research department, housing a personal power net, as well as a anti gravity generator to reduce the effects of the core. Mining docks, station equipment, flushed out dorms, and a small bridge. The main attraction of the station is the Vault. No one knows whats inside, but its probably just materials. Right?
[CLASSIFED] [CAPTAIN EYES ONLY.]
Hello captain. Your station is a top priority to this sector, and our research efforts. However things will go wrong. The station is armed with a 3 different warheads, each for every level. Detonation will seal off lower levels, by using our new durable blast doors. However, the biggest asset you have is the core warhead. Using this warhead is only when the planet is out of NT control, and must be destroyed. The resulting planet will be split in half by the explosion. There are bunkers on many of 3 levels, however the safest is in the deepest. This is for your command staff. It has experimental longrange teleportation technology, able to let you escape with ease. Do not let our coporate enemies gain this technology. We have given you the 3 auth disks, however, the 4th disk will have to be be requested to NT officals.

So we got crazy underground, all that stuff. What about the Station?

Station Layout
Enough lore, lets talk about how rounds will play out on the station.
The station will be fitted for Med-Pop, and high pop rounds.
Most preferably, 20+ people.
The whole station gimmick is about mining, and research and development, as such there will be extra mining and research department slots.
Antagonists will be barely affected by the map, but some special, and unique traitor objectives.
However, nuclear emergency will be different.
Heres how it goes, if the nukies dentonate a bomb deeper into the planet they go, the more better for the syndicate.
Heres the win conditions.
Syndicate Minor:
The nuke squad has destroyed the station! But remnants lurk beneath, and operations continue. Surface.
Syndicate Major:
The nuke squad has detonated most of NT assets! A crater seen in the planet will be seen for generations. Remnants of the corporation still remain, unfinished business to the syndicate. Level 2, 1
Syndicate Devastating:
The Syndicate have split a the planet in half, and such stopped all NT assets in the region. This will be carved into hearts of the officials forever. Glory To the Syndicate! Level 3

Security will get tight, the deeper they go.
'Heres the crew win conditions:
Crew Minor
The crew have escaped!, but the nuke disk has fallen into the wrong hands..
Crew Major
The crew has managed to eliminate all nuclear operatives, and protect NT assets. Glory to NT!
Crew Abandoned.
The Captain, and his staff have left the station, with the nuke disk in hand. The captain has abandoned the crew, however nuclear operatives are still present. They will save us, right? (This is obtained when the captain leaves, and all of the command staff use the emergency teleporter.)

Development
At this point, this has become a project, more than a Idea. A lot of things will need to be hand coded in or recycled. I will also need A LOT of custom sprites, and spriters for this project. I do not code, I map so I will need a lot of outside help with this project. The idea of this as well is to help get know others in the community and establish a positive stance in this community, before I become a game admin. I would be glad to help people with this project however I fear it will be left in the dust like the other brand new station ideas, as most of our current maps are just redesigns of other stations, like icebox for a example. It will be big, but very exciting to work on at least.

Also, if you are wondering, I did not post this in the mapping forum because, no one goes there anymore, and ideas are usually left in the dust.
