for when the station isn't on fire...

Post by Senefi » #691872

I've been thinking about trying a new job recently... possibly curator or janitor... I'm anxious and need to talk to people more, what's some fun stuff to do/aim for to make the shift a little more interesting?

Janitor can be fun if you make it a personal goal to actually go clean everything. You have to interact with people to get into their departments. People will like you if you aren't actually just slipping them all the time.

Sadly no. I always remember pure plasma into distro worked quite well, but atmos was never my expertise so I really don't know if there's more to it than that (especially with atmos changes over the years).

I do know though, asking admins to play this song makes it much more fun if successful: https://youtu.be/kLNgD5vsZsM

Plasma fires are easy. You just need 3 things: plasma, oxygen, and fire.
Bawhoppennn wrote: Tue Jul 04, 2023 5:36 pm Sadly no. I always remember pure plasma into distro worked quite well
Not really... most rooms are already at "standard" pressure, so you'll only get a tiny amount of plasma actually floating around. You have to set the air alarms to push your plasma in.
The easiest ways are to just bust open a plasma canister wherever you want to set the fire, or use a flamethrower. It requires less preparation but also creates less fire (in area and duration).

You could create a network of pipes hooked up to a canister and put injectors at various places, or you could just use the existing networks, distro and scrubbers, to do that, by hooking up injectors to either of those after filling them with plasma.

Putting injectors is unnecessary, you can just set all vents to max output. Usually hacking the AI is the best way to accomplish this as they can easy access every air alarm.

To prepare the ultimate plasmaflood, the first thing you do is make sure air isn't going into distro. You then fireaxe your way into the oxygen and plasma gas tanks (make sure to place atmos holosign before doing this), and build layer 4 grey unary vents connected with grey pipes in the tanks. You then disable the pressure limits of those vents with atmospherics air alarm, turn them on, and set them to scrubbing.

Unary vents have no pressure limits, so they'll keep on sucking the plasma and oxygen into the pipes over time. While the vents suck, you prepare two burn canisters and make them burn. You then go around the station and start disabling the pressure limits of the vents around the station. If you have time, you could even build vents in maintenance (or injectors, but that will look suspicious) and disable their pressure limits.

Once ready, connect the burn canisters to waste so scrubbers no longer work. You then connect the oxygen and plasma pipes together and then into distro. Instant ~630,000 mole of each plasma and oxygen flood. Very high density plasmaflood all over the station. Listen to the screams not even a second after connecting them.

Alternative to plasma, you can do a hydrogen flood. Make sure distro is empty as usual. Make a hydrogen farm. Make two burn canisters. Set air alarms to refill around the station. When ready, connect burn canisters to waste and connect your hydrogen (make sure it is near room temperature before doinf this) to distro.

Hydrogen will flood the station. People won't notice as it's invisible, and pressure won't be too high because vents are only refill. Once someone decides to have a smoke or cause a spark in some form, a very, very fast hydrogen fire will explode around the station. Firelocks would be too slow to catch it. The fire will be quick and hot, and the floor may even melt all over the station. Not an eternal fire lile a plasma flood, but it will pretty much wreck the entire station instantly.

Tritium is an alternative to hydrogen, but it's harder to get at as high quantities (something like 90% of the tritium you make gets burned before you can scrub it). It's also visible. It does give everyone cancer though.

You misunderstood. Injectors from scrubbers, not distro.

I feel bad we hijacked this thread, so I will reply to the original topic:

Try playing lawyer. It's super fun if you can get into the swing of things. It requires a lot of improv and clever thinking, but it is an absolute blast if you can get into the hang of it.
