I think the second explosion in the shuttle was an nukeops bomb implant. The explosion looks to be centred on the nuke op itself (dark suit man) from what I can tell.
and the audio that i heard also had the beeps of an implant!! Which is why i hit escape instead of finishing what i was typing there.

Well I don't know. He might have been able to claim the shuttle was doomed anyway then.

It was not doomed until he threw the grenade, which did more damage to the shuttle than a nuke op microbomb implant would do.
