I think kubi was kicked out. The phrasing in the feedback thread implied that, at least.

I'm like 99% sure there was a wave of retirements when the last term started but I have nothing to back up my sources since I wasn't that involved with the community just yet.

Re: admin retirement spree
The election cycle is shitty as fuck in the admin channels because everyone has to deal with all the admins (including myself) obviously vying for the admin vote by putting a headmin platform spin on everything they say. It tends to increase burnout and leads to a lot of early-term retirements.
We also tend to do inactivity purges around handover time, so sometimes we get admins leaving because their friends aren't around too etc.
Finally, changing of the guard means a changing of ideas. Some retirements are just a simple old "I'll wait until next term, I disagree with this one". Which I respect.

Re: admin retirement spree
Sensitive topics like "why did someone leave the team" are very difficult to discuss because we respect people's privacy. The best we can afford is being transparent about admins retiring or being deadminned.

Re: admin retirement spree
I'm gonna give you some context on how these work: head admins and the admin talk privately. Then they're gone. We usually find out 'cos the staffing log changes and/or someone mentions it somewhere.
Much like players aren't privvy to another player's notes, we aren't privvy to admin's reasons for quitting/being removed from the team, and much like that, either the person outright says why in a public channel or people ask them directly, or nobody knows. (this isn't to say that admins are like idk in a pecking order higher than players, admins are just players with a shitty job that comes with very fun perks)
I hope this explains why "Why?" is not a question anyone but the headadmins or Kubi should answer, out of respect.

Re: admin retirement spree
Oh yeah double post 'cos I forgot: if an admin gets deadminned via admin complaint (not the case with Kubi), then obviously that's public. Think of the parallel to it when a player appeals and now their note/ban that was previously private is now public.

To clarify, I don't personally think head admins should openly leak private discussions with admins, even with their permission. It's a matter of respect to the party involved not to gossip about the topic.

Re: admin retirement spree
Burnout is a bitch. Striders has been an admin for ages, they probably just wanted to move on to something else.
I'm not privy to the Bugstep situation, just that they failed out of their trial for reasons that have not been divulged, and I'll leave it up to the headmins on whether or not to openly discuss the Kubi matter just because, even with their permission, I don't feel comfortable discussing stuff like that. Not that the situation is somehow scandalous, I just don't like weighing in on admins being removed from their position unless I feel it's especially heinous.
As for Voudez, some people become an admin and decide it just wasn't for them. That's probably what happened here.
E: I know Imaginos was facing burnout for a while and stepped down as a spritetainer because of the constant negative feedback about sprites, but they came back after a while. I'm not sure why they dropped from admin but they're still a spritetainer, so they're not going anywhere from the community.
