I actually wanted to go to sleep but after resting my head for 3 seconds i came up with this title

Was shoved, pied, and noogied by an assistant a few times and used that as justification to immediately over escalate

After the assistant was revived immediately tried to cuff him. Assistant shoved him, which he used as justification to kill him yet again and
behead him.

Yeah, that was my exact reaction too. I've seen my fair share of "that guy shoved me/grabbed me after I did the same to them, so I crit them" but I was not expecting the decapitation part for merely resisting being cuffed.

I'm not sure I agree, it was absolutely an over-escalation to begin with. Noogie does like 10 brute, he had zero justification to jump straight to lethals over that. I probably would've banned him for just that given his history, but it wouldn't have been permanent. The decapitation is what led to that.

i think if someone is consistently fucking with you, which is the impression i got, simply soft critting them and forcing them to be taken to medical is a great way to get them to bugger off. i dont know the exact details honestly but thats the impression i got from the note… well that would be the impression if they didnt obsessively follow them to medical and then decapitate them

it’s less about the “amount” of brute damage and more the fact that the person is more or less just fucking around with you.

I thought airlock crush did like 40? I remember it being a lot more than 20.

Either way, there's a difference between "intentionally hostile move that can be chained into lethality" and "harmful childish bullshit".

Vekter's decision sucks, as usual. Vekter really gave him a permanent ban over poor escalation... random murder is a 24 hour ban, but a semi-random murder is a permanent ban? I see Vekter can't logic.

You really don't understand bans, do you? Murdering someone as a non-antagonist is usually a 24 hour ban but multiple things can increase it. To list a few, your notes, your reason, your account age and if you made any attempts to revive them. In this case the player had a problem with self-antagging, it's in the ban message. To reiterate, the player was only banned permanently for his bad history.

Ban reason: Constant self-antagging over the last few months.

I've got 1k hours on tgstation, with no escalation notes. If tomorrow I was to get into a fight with someone and over escalate I'd probably be given a note. If I did it again? Another note or a 24 hour ban. If I did it again and again, multiple times a month? Well I'll eventually be permanently banned.

It's simple. If you do the same thing over and over, expect to be banned for longer each time.
