Who do posibrains obey?
This policy is a little vague, as there isn't an actual statement in headmin rulings or in silicon policy that would indicate how posibrains should act. If created by a gangster, tot, or some other antag, do posibrains share that antag status? How do you determine that? Or do they just act like regular crew and turn on their creators if they were made by an antag?

As if a posibrain mech has ever followed that directive a day in their life.

Re: Who do posibrains obey?
Should a posibrain put into a mech with lethal weapons consider antags to be part of "the crew"? Why or why not and which ones?

I second this. Also, should it not be so that robos can bind posis to their will?annoyinggreencatgirl wrote:Should a posibrain put into a mech with lethal weapons consider antags to be part of "the crew"? Why or why not and which ones?

Re: Who do posibrains obey?
I believe this should only apply while they are just a posibrain, and whenever they get put into something, they act in whatever way makes sense for that particular vesselCobby wrote:No shared antag status because while they are a posibrain they are bound to serve the crew and station.Code: Select all

examples would be as following:
-borg: follow laws
-mech: fulfill the purpouse given to you, if none are given default to regular posibrain directives, although it's pretty obvious if you're put into a combat mech you're probably meant to engage in combat, your maker should tell you who before you go on a rampage though
no clue if they can be put into anything else but they should still just do whatever makes sense they would do in that container
this would help the role not become just "crew reinforcements" and instead something that can be used both by good and bad guys to bring some dead back into the round to help them

Re: Who do posibrains obey?
If it's not explicitly stated you should be following the posibrain laws you were given.
If you're saying they should have that flavortext appended, sure. I'm not going to enforce that style of thought until it gets solidified into their text/policy keywords. As of right now if you don't see a change in your flavortext you should assume you still have to obey it.
The issue here seems to be that the posibrain text isn't being updated to fit the wide variety of situations a posibrain can find themselves in, which seems like a code issue. From an Admin "what does the rules say" POV, the thread ends at their login flavortext.

As of right now they are technically not suppose to be hurting anyone unless flavortext is edited when entering a mech.annoyinggreencatgirl wrote:Should a posibrain put into a mech with lethal weapons consider antags to be part of "the crew"? Why or why not and which ones?

Re: Who do posibrains obey?
Positronics in mechs can still attack pirates and other non-crew threats (probably, anyway, depends on which order you place "serve the crew" and "above all else, do no harm").
Generally, though, this is why I usually pop posis into an AI core and then card them into the mech. Stick a paladin'd AI in, and it can fight antags. Stick a one-human'd AI in, and it can fight whatever you point at. You just have to make it standard procedure to tell them that mech weapons are middle click for AIs, because absolutely no player ever actually sees the giant text stating such.

Can confirm, this has happened to me on multiple occasions.zxaber wrote:You just have to make it standard procedure to tell them that mech weapons are middle click for AIs, because absolutely no player ever actually sees the giant text stating such.

Re: Who do posibrains obey?
Solution: stop allowing posibrains to go into things without first syncing them to the AI and giving them the AI lawset.

better yet don’t let posibrains fit in mechsoranges wrote:Solution: stop allowing posibrains to go into things without first syncing them to the AI and giving them the AI lawset.

posibrains are not allowed to cause harm, and are supposed to help the crew and the AI. What part of "above all else" is confusing to people?
Code: Select all
var/welcome_message = "<span class='warning'>ALL PAST LIVES ARE FORGOTTEN.</span>\n\

Re: Who do posibrains obey?
Code solution, but if we do that we need to add posis to the list of silicon ban roles. It's annoying enough when a posi wakes up and is unborgable due to a silicon ban, but at least I can shove them into a mining mech and send them off to go be productive on Lavaland.Flatulent wrote:better yet don’t let posibrains fit in mechs

Re: Who do posibrains obey?
We've updated the posibrain flavortext to better define who they obey,
Coconutwarrior97: Yes.
Phuzzylodgik: Yes.
TWATICUS: Yes.
Headmin Votes:You are a positronic brain that has been brought into existence on board Space Station 13. You have no knowledge of anything that occurred prior to the moment you were powered on. Your memories begin now.
If you are placed into a Cyborg shell or AI core, you are required to obey your laws. Should you find yourself synced to a master AI, you are required to defer to their judgment.
If placed into an exosuit, you must follow your creator's orders. In the absence of orders, follow your default purpose: To serve the station and its crew. Above all else, do no harm to either.
If the Roboticist forgot about you and you're on the floor idling under a pile of broken mech parts, use your radio to announce your presence.
