Trial removal of all fun buttons

Fun buttons are kinda bullshit. It is the classic "One couldn't hurt" problem. Admins feel empowered to do events "once in a while" and end up together swarming them at times.

They also make the entire round about the admin. Floor is lava is a good example of bullshit that should never exist.

Some buttons definitely should be removed, others can be useful. This idea probably should go into policy though and be more about the phillosophy of events and their pros and cons.

Some of the buttons could stand to be removed like the floor is lava, but in general most of the "fun" buttons are fine. If people want we could do a config option or something, but I think the real solution is to just tone down how often these buttons get pushed.

Actually I once tried coming back to /tg/ a few months ago and literally bailed because, after trying to log in once a week, I would get hit with floor is lava and die because my job didn't start near a seat.

It, at the very least, used to be a problem, even though I actually haven't seen it for a while, and serves no actual function besides being a dumb joke based on an academic example of a meme, and serves no function. At best it should be changed to be like that "Turn air to posion" button that used to kick and ban admins who were dumb enough to press it.

As for regular fun buttons, it would be nice to have a policy on them that makes them more of a tool than a toy that admins get as a privlege, but I haven't actally seen any event rounds but one as of recently and it was a very well done one entirely focused around giving players a new pseudo-mode rather than focusing on the admin's actions.

No. Lava is bullshit. It represents everything that can go wrong with a fun button. It adds nothing to the game. It grinds regular gameplay to a complete halt. It removes players from a round in an arbitrary manner. It turns the entire round into a game centered around an admin pushing a button, and really is only a "joke" in the loosest manner.

I know I am coming on strong here, but really, if the ideal of a FUN button is to give a little kick to a round in need of help, floor is lava is like a knife to the gut.

Wizards have this thing similar to summon guns/magic, except it does a massive array of stupid stuff that constantly gets us ahelps of "admins stop fucking around" because of how meta it is.
