How will you balance this to avoid rapid mitosis changeling? Although the idea of Rev-Ling is somewhat appealing to me....I also wish the personal hivemind thing had been added.

After a ling splits, it will need to husk a new body/steal, like, 5 more DNA to split again. The splitting takes time and KOs you, maybe also should do a bit of damage.

Can't we have Shadowling (Which is incapable of bringing ghosts back, AFAIK) AND changeling? Changeling has tons of potential, people just needed to find the way to balance it to not perma-remove people from the round, and this method is it.

lol this method is awful.
it's OP if you make it like one husk per person and if its more you're still taking people out of the round
ling was never ment to be super robust go kill dudes antag, more of a paranoia dont go alone antag.

Regeneration powers make lings really fucking tough to kill anyways, so letting them split and make more is nuts. The station will get overrun with emp shrieking armblade monkeys every ling round without fail

Ling is literally so shit it got (almost?/was) removed as it's own game mode. Pretty sure people don't want lings shitting out more awful lings.

Or you kow, just make lings exactly like the movie version. It would fix all problems. Instead of taking people out of the round they would be converted to the Ling cause. And you get to datach parts of your bodies for ghosts to control.

Changeling is unworkable as a game mode in my opinion simply because no one has any clue on how to develop it.

It is pretty well agreed upon that ling is shit. I think hat a coder just needs to pick it up, choose a direction and rework the bitch completely. It is the only way it will be cohesive, rather than a mishmash of different powers

If only coding gamemodes wouldn't be that hard. Maybe that new Shadowling mode will be reason enough to put Changelings out of their misery, right now they are better of dead.

You should need the whole crew to kill a changeling, it's an alien and there's usually what? 3-4 of them for every 30 people?
This whole thing of trying to balance the game when 90% of you don't know how to balance the game and the ones that do are balancing stupid shit is getting really annoying tbh.

oldling and newling are both terrible things and should just be scrapped to be made from scratch.

oldling was "paramute everyone, absorb, become unstoppable killing machine"
newling is "get dunked by the first officer/assistant because you didn't get lesser form to get out of the cuffs"

seriously, why is it still a thing? its become sort of hamfisted attempt to turn it into something 'different' and all we've got is "traitor: biological edition".

Hey I was the one to coin the idea of Changeling being a Biological Traitor.

But on topic, Changeling needs a revamp from the ground up to work. Hopefully Shadowling will be received well and then we can cut out Changeling from the rotation.
