Interrogation is boring. Like really. There is no incentive to cooperate except you know, perma, forceborging, those sort of things. But you can't do those to non confirmed antags or if you want to be shit to a specific victim...I mean uncooperative crewmember. Well this example I gave is for security but I guess other people can do it to.

Yes I propose torture.

My suggestion is to use surgical tools (and by extension the stuff you can use for ghetto surgery) What you do is more like surgery only with the opposite effect. You are hurting the person for the remainder of the round unless medbay does their job (more reason for surgery room around) with some stuff made /obtained from donors (living ones like humanized monkeys) or science (augments/implants)

Examples of use:
Pulling out eyeballs (blindness)
Pulling out fingernails (lose use of arm) or toenails (slow move speed)
Burning (lower health cap but not damage. This is important or asimov/corporate/paladin ally wouldn't allow for this shit)
Pulling out tongues (unable to speak)
Messing up noses/internal organs (vomit every specific number of ticks)

You get the idea. The thing is to not damage the person with conventional types of damage like brute/oxyloss/burn which any classless person can do but to make the round hell for the other guy until its repaired by some other guy.

Or you can just get cloned to fix this but it will take way too much longer.m

There's still no incentive to cooperate with this, and every incentive to just ghost as once you're in this situation you know that the likelihood of escape is practically nil.
This isn't real life, there isn't any way you can forcefully coerce someone in a video game, and we don't need it to become a torture porn simulator.

I mean if you want to be fancy you have the cooks apron, a screwdriver for the eyes, a box of flashbangs for the ears, tear gas for the face, and if you're so inclined, medbay is a pandoras box of fucking a player over already. Ask for a non-sneezing DNA saboteur, hyphema, choking and weight loss virus from virology, all manner of chems like drugs, mercury, or LSD with an IV drip from chem, and disability SE's from genetics.

Yup, it's easy and convenient enough to hurt people already, without adding even more messed up stuff. The stuff that exists is just slightly less clinical than new surgeries.

Plus, yeah, why do we want torture porn? There's almost never an incentive to go further than a standard harmbaton.

Yea nothing is stopping them from ghosting. If we do make it so they somehow can't ghost then people will complain and abuse it to no end. If we were more of a heavy(or even light

) roleplay server this could be useful.

You mentioned burning making Asimov/Corporate/Paladin AIs not mind, since it doesn't deal damage. I have a feeling Paladin AIs might object to torture in general?

I guess you guys haven't actually been blinded/deaf/muted/slowed/etc. before. I would say it is really effective as torture because those are things which cannot be ignored in the long run but you'll end up pressing on because you know they can be repaired. As long as someone helps you (which will happen, if the station isn't halfway to chaos as it always is)

I've played rounds where I've been blind for 20 minutes (didn't ghost because you know, can be fixed) and slowed from damage and lack of food for 10 minutes until I finally got bored and hacked into medbay because the docs were too busy. The only people which would end up ghosting would be people who would not play anyway because they aren't antag/validhunting/having fun etc. for the round. Those that wouldn't would try their best to get fixed, or not get tortured at all because they want to continue playing. Especially for antags which still have a chance for a greentext because they wouldn't end up in perma/forceborged so this is a better alternative in that case.

You can already load people up with chemical implants that can be filled with all kinds of nasties.

My favourite is the one that sets people on fire from the inside out, like the hell_fire punishment reagent I added to narsie and corgi sacrifices.

I just wish setting people on fire would make them scream uncontrollably.

People will ghost just if they are brigged I don't know why you think being brigged, blind, and mute will discourage rather than encourage this behaviour.

I just think its slightly disturbed to want to recreate something that is physically and moral wrong for so many reasons. In my opinion its on the same level as rape and I'm really not sure I'd want to play a game that recreates such a situation, even if I can separate reality from a game.

Relativity doesn't have much of an influence here, we're not in Einsteinian but Escherian space.

Anyway, torture is an RP-heavy mechanic on a server that only minimally enforces RP (although it is encouraged), there is no way this is going to end well.

Also, talking in more real life rather than in-game scenarios here, death can come pretty quickly, and sometimes even accidentally. Torture is naturally far more drawn out, and requires the same "I want to hurt this person" mindset throughout the whole thing that murders only need for the moment it happens.

If you read the text for attacks it's plenty graphic, it's just that most people tune it out. Which says a lot in and of itself.
