Alrighty, this was a general idea to reconfigure atmos to look like this:

Seems like you're jumping the gun (pun intended) a bit here, given that you don't have anyone who's said they'll code this- particularly since modular guns would be a fairly challenging thing to do, codewise.
In game, I play the A.I Firmware, the French cyborg C.U.R.I.E, Aubrie Allen, and the lizard scum Skulks-Through-Maintenance.

Like I said in IRC it's unlikely you can compress atmos into the area you have allotted for it, plus mappers hate to remap/map piping

Attempted to do this because atmos tech is a job that doesnt require you to be in your work place 24/7 - Another equally useless job was the Lawyer.

Either way, anything i do, people will bitch.
I don't have the power to force anything on anyone, therefore, democracy declares this is a shit idea.

IF any of you have a place that can be agreed on by others, without everyone going

Maintainers do not care about polls, you must convince them with a strong presentation and reasoning; argue your case. You could get 100 players to vote for adding *fart back or introducing cat-people, but it is not going to happen unless you have a well written argument.

Anyway, Atmos is a terrible place to put gun-crafting. There are two major areas you can place your factory that are completely unused and empty: Arrivals Expansion and the little construction room near Tech Storage.

I would favor it going to Science, I expect strong opposition here. You could consider giving it to Sec, and just expanding the armory; their department is quite small, and half of it is dedicated to prisoners.

This is an extremely cool concept that we don't really need anywhere frankly.
If it's going to go anywhere make it for Security. Science doesn't need more toys, there really is no reason for Atmospherics to have it, Engineering doesn't need guns, a good Cargo staff can utilize their crates, Medical Bay doesn't need guns, and no civilian sector needs guns.
You maybe could argue that the Security department already has the armory, but that's because they're Security and they get the firepower. This addition is for the construction of firepower, which only Security should have access to.

Maybe if you presented your idea in a way that wasn't kind of stupid. Why would you think replacing a large part of atmos with guns was a good idea? I can't even think of the thought process that went with the idea.

To me, excuse my ignorance, but atmos looks like a bunch of dead space (The gap between the pipes, the long pipes going in a straight line)
Not to mention its connected to a Sub-Central hall, which is needed.
It also, as mentioned before, is a job area that doesn't require a Atmos-Tech to be in there constantly
Also, if it was refurbished to a factory, Technicans/Gunsmiths would replace the Atmos Tech job.

EDIT: Also, 1/4 of the space taken away in total is devoted to gunsmithing, the rest becomes a machineshop/factory for general goods.

On the topic of reasons, why the do we need gunsmithing?

What we really need is modular sciencings. Go make all of science more modular and fold this into it.

Why the fuck would we even need a gun machine when we have automatic lathes that shit out fairly simple objects en mass and a machine capable of rapidly prototyping entire complex devices in seconds.

I'l admit, i never have played atmos, to the naked eye, it does infact look like a bunch of pipes with deadspace inbetween them.
