Replacement for the Stechkin pistol; The Glock 17
Hi there.
Like the title of the topics says, i propose for the old 1951 KGB Stechkin pistol to be replaced by the Glock 17 9mm pistol.
The Glock makes sense in the Space Station 13 universe. Let me explain why:
Being created in 1981 to meets the needs of the Austrian army, it's more recent and combat-effective than the Stechkin, which is an outdated pistol, with outdated ammo, mechanics and magazine capacity. (17 9mm bullets VS 8 10mm rounds)
Production of the Stechkin stopped in 1975 and it's use is very limited. (Limited service in poor countries which can't affort to renew their armory: Angola, Zambia, Vietnam, etc)
The Glock has a reputation to be an undestructible pistol. Throw it from a plane, crush it with a tank, it will still work. If i had one pistol to take with me in space, it will be this one. No external safety, no bullshit, draw it, pull the trigger and it fires. It's one badass gun, contemporary and futuristic at the same time.
It's widespread and used by anyone around the world; It set itself as the pistol of the police officer as well as the bad guy. And whoever says bad guy says syndicate. The myth of the pistol undetectable in x-ray, while being just a myth, fits the shady traitor atmosphere. I can very well picture a syndicate double agent, traitor or nuke ops carrying one. It's a pure combat pistol and that's exactly what an antag would need.
Latest generation of the Glock 17, the gen 4, was put in the market in 2010 and is setting new standards.
Ammo is also widespread, as you can see the 9mm being used by law enforcment, shooters and military all around the world.
As for in game mechanics; All it needs are renamings in the appropriate menu, the two sprites (Silenced, unsilenced), changing the mag capacity and the ammo to 9mm, as for the damage done; The difference between 10mm and 9mm is tiny, the coderbus can very well replicate this difference in game by reducing very slightly the damage, or not.
Pictures of the two guns:
Stechkin
Glock 17
The Stetchkin looks like it belongs to a museum. The Glock whoever, is built to be intimidating as fuck.
Thanks for reading me.

Care to elaborate on why my idea is so bad that i have to "fuck off" ?

While Paprika is tactful as always, it doesn't really matter what pistol it is. Plus Artyom cargo can produce Glocks if they jump through hoops with science and crate ordering. Stetchkin sounds cooler, looks cool, and fits.

The argumentation is about as good as in OP. Seriously, why?Kuraudo wrote:No argumentation detected in this sentence.paprika wrote:no fuck off

I'm assuming that TG code give the choice between power (The Revolver) and capacity/stealth (The semi-auto), my idea underline this by proposing a pistol which contain many bullets, is not as strong as the revolver, can be fitted with a silencer and, like i said in the original post, fits SS13 universe very well.Cipher3 wrote:While Paprika is tactful as always, it doesn't really matter what pistol it is. As for Artyom, i don't play in it.

Doesn't the Sketchin deal 10 Brute damage per hit?
I'm all for choice don't get me wrong, but a sidearm that deals less damage than a crowbar is something I'll find not as good to use, unless its a SMG.

I'm OK for the damage values not being changed. But the fact is the revolver hurts way more. My proposal would restore the balance in the sense that you would get a medium damage weapon with high capacity.Steelpoint wrote:Doesn't the Sketchin deal 10 Brute damage per hit?

It's still medium-tier compared to the powerhouse that the Revolver is.paprika wrote:Stech does 30 damage because a nuke op was buttmad one day.

The l6 is a 50 round revolver and I'm surprised more nook ops don't take it.

Good point, but remember that the L6 can't be put in a backpack or be put in the backpack slot and you also have to carry not only your backpack and the jetpack too.paprika wrote:The l6 is a 50 round revolver and I'm surprised more nook ops don't take it.

Re: Replacement for the Stechkin pistol; The Glock 17
Can't you draw Oxygen from your jetpack?
Eh, if not just plop a Oxytank in your pockets and plop the magazine in your backpack.
Simply put, space is not as big an issue for Nuke Ops if they plan it out.

To be fair, the amount you take out of the jetpack breathing would be a drop in the bucket compared to the amount you use flying around, especially if you set up the air correctly on it.

Re: Replacement for the Stechkin pistol; The Glock 17
Excellent idea.
The current sprite for the 'Stechkin' pistol looks like a Glock. The nice, crisp, compact design with interlocking curves along it's ergonomic grip. It shouldn't even have a new sprite, it's should just be renamed! Maybe not Glock 17, but the same style and look of Glock will remain while still being able to fire 10mm. There are Glocks chambered in 10mm and have the same design.
