Just like every day on Coderbus, we can't decide what we want. So we've decided to hold a small contest. IT was decided over Coderbus that we want vocal incantations along with the new spell sounds. After a length discussion, we decided we want both female and male wizard voices.

Rules are pretty simple, go to this page https://tgstation13.org/wiki/Wizard for a list of wizard spells with the invocations on them and do your best to pronounce them.

Criteria is simple, be an okay-ish voice actor ( i ain't exactly looking for the next Mel Blanc) and Have an okay-ish mic. I can edit out bad mic qualities, (like background noises and pops) if it isn't really bad. Although, the worst it is, the lower the final quality will be when i clean the sound up. The style we're looking for is sort of a "yelling". What kind of yelling no one can really agree on, some have said real "guttural" others have suggested just kind of aggressive. Also some of the spells are suppose to be whisperey, which ones, again we can't decide... so... we'll leave that to you or something... I'd prefer each file on then own or in one big recording. File type can be anything from an .mp3, .wav or .ogg, if not an ogg i can just convert them later. Uploaded to either a drop box account or Google Drive or web server or what ever means you have to upload them. I'd like at least a second before or after each invocation so Auditions can analyze background noise. (if you have any background noise)

Once the contest is over and we've gotten enough high enough-ish quality contestants subbmitting their invocations, i will decide the best two or three of male and female and submit them to the admin/coders for a vote. With a possibility of having the players also vote.

How would you like these submitted? a rar file with individual spells as individual sound files? a single file with all the words with pauses between them? a particular type of sound file?
Not sure I'm good enough to do it, but more information would be great.

Anyone remember that mod for skyrim, where you activated your shouts by actually shouting the right phrases?

I had a hilarious vision of people shouting spells to activate them in spessmens.

The pronunciation could be improved (my opinion, it's gibberish anyway), but I like it. The accent and voice both work.

That, actually isn't bad. Microphone is a bit shitty, almost unusable, but i could probably work with it. Mouse clicks have to go though, they've made a few invocations useless unfortunately. Feel free to submit as many takes as you'd like though, better mic or not. When i was doing the audio logs a while ago, i would record multiple versions of each line until i got something i liked, so you almost can't submit too many take. Almost.

yeah like I said it was 2 am so I was way closer to the mic than necessary and a lot of the audio was blown out as a result but this is cancer killing /tg/ not professional audio

will re-record at some point soon

Try downloading Audacity. It's what i use to record (even though i have Adobe Auditions, but it doesn't like my mic for some reason)

yeah I normally use audacity for srsbsns recordings (I actually do a lot of them in my day job) plus a mic system that is not composed of cablecuffs and the clown's gibs

I thought Ei Nath was pronounced EEE NATH, hence the flavour text for the wizard burger being "You will eat this until you have had Ei NAth" because it sounds like enough

Always liked "E-I NATH" (long E, long I), though I've never been sure what the wordplay for it was.
I thought Magic Missile used to be "ICEE BEEYEM", which, of course, was a pun on "ICBM".

Not bad, you've defiantly had the best mic quality of any other auditions, big plus. The incantations felt like... they were kind of... trying to imitate a Japanese accent... some how. You and Dundirtcheap could possibly tie. If bandit could get her re-recordings finished i think we'd have some surprisingly good candidates for wizard voice.
