To be robust is not about combat prowess, it is the state of readiness for the situation at hand.

Re: Planetside 2: Zerg Simulator
I wish the relationships of air combat weren't so fucking retarded.
Locking up people with A2A missiles has to be done well within gun range, and you can't fire your guns while going for the lock.
Even if you get the lock and fire the missiles don't do shit for damage, you need at least 2-3 hits with them to get a splash. Which is just the absolute most retarded thing ever.
The relationship between the vehicles shits on NC so hard it's nonsensical. If things are going to be balanced so poorly I almost wish they didn't even have an air vehicle so I wouldn't wasted certs on it or be tempted to fly it around.
Our supposed advantage is in boom-and-zoom combat, where you fly at high-speeds towards something while dumping damage on it and then continue past, turn around and make another pass.
This doesn't work when your maximum draw distance is just over 1km. When there are no fast-locking/tracking thermal missiles like AIM-9's in the game.
Everytime I get in one of these planes I feel like how I imagine the British must've felt fighting the Germans in the air.
You want me to do WHAT with this thing? Against THEM?

Superior firepower < superior maneuverability when it comes to air combat.Malkevin wrote:Vortex is best A2A nosegun, dont listen to anon
How many air to air kills you think A-10's get against any fighters?
The Mosquito and Shrike's ability to out-turn the Reaver renders your gun moot unless you're flying up on someone who hasn't noticed you at all. You will lose every dogfight.

Granted I've still not got around to reinstalling this yet but given what a festering pustule the fighter jock community was I doubt the flight model has changed much, ESF dog fights were all about going into hover mode and circle strafing each other, so vertical thrust was key and the Reaver was king of that.

I THINK the revenge thing is just a bounty
I haven't used or seen it used, so I don't know if it rewards XP, or Certs, or Pay2grindless bux or whatever

Being a bro is what makes this game fun.
It's literally the one reason I play medic or engineer, because helping people feels amazingly good.

Aircraft get smart and stay away causing skyguards to get bored and shoot at ground targets which means they're not looking at the sky which means the aircraft are free to return.

Re: Planetside 2: Zerg Simulator
Fun fact: Crouched Infiltrators are just about completely invisible.
Crouched Stalkers are just about completely invisible forever.
But sometimes, just sometimes, the Infiltrator's head apparently sticks out like a big fucking target.
Not that you'd need that to spot cloakers, just turn up your quality and monitor contrast.
Call me whining, but crouch-cloaking while standing still oughtta make you actually invisible.

Re: Planetside 2: Zerg Simulator
Hey, I am using cover - but be aware I run Stalker, so sniping isn't my priority, I have to get within Commissioner range.
Commissioner range usually means inside bases. There, however, bushes are relatively rare.
I can duck behind crates, and it's usually successful until some asshole comes from the wrong side.
Exeption is that one time I mentioned, where there was a rock formation behind a vehicle spawn and people were too busy lining themselves up for my dinky starter pistol to plink away at them. Wish I'd brought mines, though.

Re: Planetside 2: Zerg Simulator
Back when I rocked around with the PCGAMER outfit we had a couple of outfit members which would use mosies with ejection seats to get into vantage spots like radio masts or trees, trees were great because they provided concealment and cover.
Could you imagine if the game was classless? LA rocking sniper rifles or battle rifles, instead of slug shotguns.

Re: Planetside 2: Zerg Simulator
The bushes are usable with the crossbow, but yeah, you're correct about the Commissioner- it really shouldn't be possible to invalidate the central class feature of the infiltrator by adjusting monitor settings.DemonFiren wrote:Hey, I am using cover - but be aware I run Stalker, so sniping isn't my priority, I have to get within Commissioner range.

Which is why I'd prefer deep cloak to actually make you invisible.
I also wonder if I should invest in a Blackhand instead of a Crossbow next.

Re: Planetside 2: Zerg Simulator
I trial'd the Blackhand and wasn't a huge fan- I prefer the crossbow. The Blackhand would probably be easier to learn to use than the crossbow, since it uses traditional bullet trajectories rather than a crossbow bolt, but other than that, I found the crossbow generally more effective. The blackhand gives you a little more power if it does come down to a twitch firefight, but generally as an infiltrator you should be focusing on avoiding those, not winning them.

Re: Planetside 2: Zerg Simulator
Don't get me started on trigger discipline, it's why I went to NC, because their weapons encourage it more so you don't get shot in the back so much. Whereas the thought process of VS/TR seems to go like this:CosmicScientist wrote:I get upset when allies stop supporting me and I get killed by the same light assault repeatedly and I can't shoot them in the head faster than they do mine in any fighting class.
I get happy when I'm fighting a TR heavy on the short end of mid range on open terrain and madness happens. I had the 40% damage reduction shield on and a shotgun out, I shot at them twice whilst they were non-stop blaring at me with their LMG. I get shot once in the body whilst walking to the right and swap to my pistol questioning why I'm not dead yet. Tap, tap, tap until they're dead and I hadn't taken another shot. It really perks up my day when I can see the need for trigger discipline from the other end of a gun.
Can you see an enemy, anywhere on your screen, at any distance? If so:
FIIIIIRE EEEEEEEVERYTHING AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

Re: Planetside 2: Zerg Simulator
Pfft, TR weapons work best in 4-5 round bursts, even their LMGS.
Spraying and praying only gets you so far.
I really need to get around to buying my new gaming rig so I can play this at more than a 15 fps slideshow with terrible mouse lag.

Re: Planetside 2: Zerg Simulator
Starting SMG...light assault gets those, right?
I don't play light assault.
Right now I'm torn between buying the Longshot now that I'm halfway there or maybe buying the SAS-R instead.
SAS-R is so comfy sniping without scope sway, and it works for most jobs. Longshot is beautiful at range, though.

Turns out that, according to /ps2g/, the Railjack isn't as shit as suspected.
It's just heinously difficult.
Anyway, we gonna spread some FREEDOM this weekend?
