Rabbits have about a kilogram of meat on them and, if you can actually aim, stones hardly expend calories to throw which make them a reliable food/fur/guts source - if you can aim.

cortex command is probably one of the most ridiculously unintuitive games i've ever seen but once it clicks and you undersdtand what is happening it's incredibly fun to overheat your CPU by dropping drop pods with a million crabs on a friend
but actually, i had this game for way longer than it was on steam. i reminisce about installing some really great mods like slowing time, that one mod with the really op guys in black and orange and generally other stuff and the best map of all time
The train level no longer works, and it's on the old forums where i'd pick up the mods. Basically, three rockets connected to eachother fly between depos. They also have turrets attached. It's such a simple level, and I love it. There's no end to the joy trying to chase the train or crash into it on the other side because it loops at crazy high speeds, and you can also fit other enemies on it if you're careful. If you run the level as a survival and set yourself to team 2, you can ride the trainISH and the turrets will not only shoot other AI trying to get on the train while they keep you on the train by acting as a wall-thing.
I looked up SAW and it's still alive on steam. I haven't tested for how much of it works but it was a silly op mod and I liked it.
I know this is not related to those two but another mod that broke and was lost to time was zombiebots, from metal arms glitch in the system (also a very awesome old game i loved). They were zombies and they were bots, they swiped at your guys at melee to kill them and they would reform if you didn't kill a special part that drops in their gibs. really awesome, but yeah definitely dead.

TRAIN LEVEL
i used to have the demo of this way way way back and would go on the forums for it and scrounge for mods. had like a gig of just mods and manually changed every vanilla faction item/entity to cost 0 dollars so i could just play the demo like a sandbox. was a great way to kill time, i actually might still have my old demo build on an ancient USB somewhere
do it before the next patch hits (unless it already did, I'm not really playing anymore) because apparently getting stuff to tier 5 will be even more grindy.
And put the mod that converts kinetic damage to thermal on a couple of them so shields won't be a problem without the laser

It's early access, so far from perfect, but still pretty fun.
Also, my autism cruiser is all but done. Optimisation and then that's it.

I remember when the dude was on the baygames forums asking for testers, see it was originally planned to be a multiplayer game with the players taking the parts of crewmen going around doing damage control and stuff like Barotrauma.
After finally unlocking Smart Launch in WTF:ZF I must admit that the most beautiful sight I've ever seen is that of missiles aligning on target before their boosters ignite.
Also, I've overhauled my missile dick to be prettier and more effective in combat after almost always running out of energy because my guns didn't have buffer capacitors wired between themselves and the main plasma lines.
You know what I really, really fucking hate in any real-time game that has melee takedowns?
Enemies firing into melee combat. It would be somewhat tolerable (and hilarious) if they could hit and hurt their buddies, you know, the ones you're giving Mortal Kombat lessons to, but usually these games follow the logic of "it's called friendly fire because it doesn't apply to enemies".
i was zoltan B with a laser thing, 2 ion burst 1s, and an ion blast 1, so basically i would shit out a volley of 6 ion shots per 10 seconds then pick at them with my laser. i had max stealth and an augment that let me fire from stealth without draining it. and i had nearly 50% evasion, a defense drone, and tier 3 shields and an attack drone. so basically i just kept their shields down and the laser and drone would deal damage, meanwhile they can't land shit on me thanks to the zoltan shield and drone, when they did it would miss half the time, and failing that unless it was a missile it would get shielded. and every so often i can just turn invincible for 15 seconds. it was pretty stacked.
Been rocking out with Stellaris, although I still lack the Apocalypse pack. The Iron Blooms are a technocratic society, dedicated the making ALL the robots, and eventually turning themselves into robots. So far my closest neighbors are: Fanatical Spiritual Authoritarians (First on the chopping block) Fanatical Pacifist Xenophobes (I've surrounded them, so they are contained) and a Spiritualist Fallen Empire. I am not looking forward to my eventual synthetic evolution. Those assholes will just keep hitting the "Humiliate or WAR" button for the next forty, fifty years until my fleets are up to snuff. Hoping I get the Contingency end game crisis, I've gotten War in Heaven like, five times now. I'm tired of curb stomping the retirement homes!

The AI uses cloaks the worst way, which is just cloaking immediately and cloaking again the instant the cooldown is over. Sure, you'll stop their weapons charging while you're cloaked but the pro cloak strat is to wait until they fire their missiles and mash the cloak key before they actually hit, so you get to waste their entire weapon charge and delay their next shot by 15 seconds
Rock ship B with teleporter, a fire bomb, a fire beam, and two burst Mk2s to drop shields. Just teleport into the various gun control rooms, while dropping bombs and fire lines all over the ship, casually strolling through the burning wreckage of the enemy flagship wrecking shit. Feels good man.
