Sending certain links via PDA?
Hey lads, got a question.
I know it's not allowed ingame to share links through comms and talking to people. What about sending them via PDA though?
Especially when it comes to content specifically created for the game (like the wiki or certain guides) I think it would make sense IC-wise that people would share certain info through the good old "space internet".
I ask because I want to step up my botany game when I play again and for that I'd be helpful to send people a menu of the crazy stuff botany can make: https://pastebin.com/b1rarSHs.
Botany can support almost every department in some gamechanging way but, in my experience, people just don't know that. Plus I doubt that list would fit on a note I can just hand out ingame and almost noone would ever pays attention to notes on their desks anyway. So I just want to know if that would be allowed, would be great to increase job interaction and make peoples lifes easier in general.
Though of course it would also be nice for new players if others would be allowed to send wiki-links to them directly.

I've never seen anyone get dinged for this and I don't plan to start anytime soon.

You're not supposed to link random youtube videos or cat memes or whatever but linking game-related help pages is fine from what I understand.

I guarantee you, 90% of the players have never even read a book ingame. Or just picked up the guidebook in their office, took one look at it, thought "TL;DR" and threw it back into its corner again.Lazengann wrote:I thought this was what books were for besides porn
In all seriousness though, I am aware that there are such alternatives, it's just that I'd rather not have to litter my menu all over the station every shift. The PDA approach seems most convenient and it doesn't hurt anybody.

I think the big distinction was a medium being text or "voice".

My headcanon is that messages via pda is the same as texting so netspeak, smileys, and links to the “NTNet” (wiki) are perfectly fine.

Anything ingame related links is fine (i.e. basically only the wiki.) Just don't act like it's [current year].
