The great security sprite debate, v3
Hello I will keep this simple, these are all roundstart images of roundstart gear for the security officer, warden, and HoS jobs.
Which do you prefer?
Current / Proposed
[Note, the HoS trenchcoat and beret are already in the game, but my PR will make them default and put the greatcoat/cap in the HoS' locker.]

Even if the default is changed I'll still manually be suiting up to the old gear anyway.

The anon that made the corporate sprites is pretty great. The bottom of the warden coat looks wierd though, since you can see the outline/highlight of the legs through them, so it appears to be transparent.

No. No no no.
I'm open for sprite detail changes, but no recolour.
Red is the colour of security. Red uniforms mean communism. Red goes faster. If you change this, you might as well take away assistants grey ju...oh...oh.

Re: The great security sprite debate, v3
I want to mix them up.
I like the vest on the right, jumpsuit on the left.
Warden coat on the right, only if it had a red tint instead of a navy tint.
Almost nothing on the right-side HoS. Just looks 100% bad.

Re: The great security sprite debate, v3
As I said on IRC.
I dislike grey shirt Security Officers, but I like the red sleeved variants you made.
I dislike the blue Warden as it clashes with Security's primary colours and looks more like someone wearing a rain coat.
I like the HoS uniform, not to mention the default uniform is inside his locker and that what you've presented is essentially having the HoS start with his alt uniform on.
I'm going to vote, however, for the current tactical sprites since you've made plans to revert to the grey sleeved officers uniform and your still keeping the blue Warden uniform.

Re: The great security sprite debate, v3
Not steelpoint, the guy who wanted to keep the jensen jumpsuit, and is now complaining that the warden is too blue for security even though the warden has more red on him now than the HoS ever did with his old jensen cosplay
Steelpoint's idea of security is the higher rank you get, the more black you get, which is awful considering the warden never had any black on him, just the HoS

Wot? Ausops never made any HoS formals
The only ones I know of are the parade-ish ones (male and female), and the old HoS jumpsuit that ausops never touched

Re: The great security sprite debate, v3
Just to bring this back to the front. While I will prefer ausops (tacticle) sprites, I am prepared to compromise with the red sleeves sprites.
However, I dislike the grey badge sprites in the OP that are being used instead, and I dislike the Wardens raincoat sprites.
I don't like the idea of making Security the new "grey shirts".

Re: The great security sprite debate, v3
Security should be defined by their gear, not an arbitrary department color for the sake of tradition you've already ruined by adding black armor instead of grey and making their jumpsuits blood-red instead of just red like they used to be.
Corporate security with dress shirts and ties makes lot more sense in this universe anyway, it's not overly aggressive and not goon-tier security officers in brown sneakers.
EDIT: photo evidence security officers will still be identifyable even with grey shirts:

I like blue warden a lot but especially his coat. What he was wearing before, the red... thing with the armor, made him seem entirely too mobile, like another one of the security officers.

Re: The great security sprite debate, v3
All the proposed sprites are miles ahead of what we currently have. Except maybe the HoS, but that's fine if the old outfit still remains an option.
I retract my last statement. That looks really tacky. What was wrong with the grey sleeves?

Re: The great security sprite debate, v3
Wanted more red on the sprite so it was more clearly a security officer to people used to their currently-red appearance.

Re: The great security sprite debate, v3
Honestly it doesn't matter if they're not red. They still have a distinctive red beret (only the mime has something similar),and really it's only important that security can be clearly distinguished from other crewmen, which is true with or without the blood sleeves. The red sleeves look seriously ugly and out of place. It's literally a greyish shirt, with just randomly red sleeves. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing something so awful in real life.
I hope people will see how bad it is ingame, and get it fixed asap, the rest of the sprites are great.

Re: The great security sprite debate, v3
That's really, really bad. With the red sleeves you can't even tell he's wearing a tie, it looks like he has a red shirt under the armor. And why can't we replace the checkerboard armor with this one?Steelpoint wrote:Should mention the PR was merged, this is what Sec Officers will look like.
Also, we came up with a great idea to allow the Head of Security to select what security sprite style Officers will spawn in, so if you want to look like Old Sec Officers, or whatever you can.
But yeah. Fin.
It would give a much better paramilitary look

But then it will be a god damn circus, where everyone wears whatever they like. Might as well rename Brig to Theatre while you are it.Lo6a4evskiy wrote:This.cedarbridge wrote:Even if the default is changed I'll still manually be suiting up to the old gear anyway.

Don't forget what "Uniform" means, yep, uniform. Uniformity. I'd rather see everyone wear that awful tacky grey outfit, than let people have a choice (I take my role playan very seriously); the Winter Coat is horrible already, but it's an event so who cares.
But the bottom line is, red or bust. Not red sleeves, red jumpsuit.

Re: The great security sprite debate, v3
The red sleeved sprites were the compromise sprites reached, they are amalgamations of both security sprites options.
If the suggestion I made on another thread (https://tgstation13.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2300) is ever implemented, than paprika can more freely alter his sprites to his own desires.

Eh i prefer the old red sprites. Grey ones dont really match the red theme of the Sec force. and no, a red beret that most of the Sec force will never wear is not enough.

Re: The great security sprite debate, v3
An idea I just had was to use the greyshirt ausops shirts but recolor them to be a dull red. Then the tie could be any color we wanted, really.
The beret will be made armored and the helmet will be removed, so it's either the beret, a softcap, or nothing.Alex Crimson wrote:Eh i prefer the old red sprites. Not entirely tru, helmets are still in the armory.
Anyway, I'll create a grey sleeves/red sleeves poll after a week on the server or much more likely give them some reddish shirts and black ties.

No I'm pretty sure that vest sprite is the default sprite, its just that everyone is jumbling around armour sprites when looking at comparisons so its hard to tell which is standard issue and which is not.

That's mostly your fault, I wanted to move the old tactical gear to the armory and you constantly wanted to switch it back even though the new armor looked way better for officers

Not about the sprites directly, but uh, last round I started as the Engi officer with a bowman headset, and I think the bowman headset didn't have security channel on it, only Engineering and the standard encryption.
Another round I started as the Supply officer and it's not got Sec on it either.
