Your side of the story: I was told it was for stealing an engi mod suit and murder/griefing, i believe the reason the admin thought i stole the modsuit was due to me opening it and saying something along the lines of '' haha im stealing this mod suit'' and proceeding to equip, i also had a fight with a lizard and proceeded to kill them, i do admit to this and also say i should not have murdered them, i do think this hardly warrants a permanent ban though, stealing an engi suit as an engi kind of makes no sense though i do agree what i said makes it sound as such, at the very least im asking for a reduced ban, not a permanent one please.

Probably shouldn't be appealing the ban while the round is in progress, it might be considered IC OOC (similar to your discussion on discord about this during the round)

As for why a quick trip to perma? Well, read on.

You already got done once for murdering someone for no reason, the handling admin marked your account as a possible evader/griefer, and it is this mark which caused me to orbit you from the start of the shift.

You're right about your quote, but not about "one modsuit"

Nope, the reason I believe that you stole the second mod suit is because I watched you steal the second mod suit, as a result of me shadowing you from round start. Look, I even took an examine of you thats still in my chat log.

You're wearing one mod suit, and have the other in hand.

We can go on to search for that "no not a bomb" line and timestamp when you have this.

over a minute later, which is during the next part of your story.

You then go north into maintenance and mess around at the exterior airlock by the solars, probably trying to space the mod suit. You in fact have to turn on the mod suit you've got equipped while still having the other one in hand.

You then run into some unlucky lizard in maintenance who you kill

You then start punching other random engineers and shoving people towards the super matter crystal, at which point I decide to intervene, not only by bwoinking you but also gibbing you before you actually manage to dust someone. The spaced lizard is much easier to recover (and was recovered by another admin, though I did go back and check on them later)

By the time I PM you I've already decided that given you already have one strike for random murder, the clear random murder + round removal here + rule 1 shittery behaviour around the mod suit + I can only assume further attempts at round removal in the engine entrance, that I'm going to permaban you.

Over to you, please explain away why this is all ..... er, explain why you're appealing I guess.

first of all, i Was going to put the suit back after i had gone into space for a while, not that i should have taken 2 at all anyway which is understandable as to why you suspected that, and also that round removaling someone is kind of a dick move and i agree that i should get punished for that. also the dude in engi that i was shoving was also shoving other toward the engine or around it as to why i shoved him outside the engine until i got blown up. also not quite sure what you mean by ''no not a bomb'' and even with all this i believe a permaban seems unreasonable, a timeban precisely deters actions like this and considering its my first ban offense it seems a bit much.

Edit: Im Also new to the game and not 100 percent familiar to the rules as i semi skimmed through them, i do swear that ill reread them properly to ensure that i can play well and not rulebreak withingame, also to an apology if i sound sound sarcastic in any way within my messages.

Ah, we've gone from "admin thought i stole it" to "i was going to put it back", despite your vocal statements about just stealing it.

Then there's this, which is where you got your initial rep as a possible griefer, where you killed someone for no reason, and were told not to

Which is exactly what happened here. You claim, in the ticket, that you're "having a fight", there's no such thing, you wordlessly attack the lizard here and beat them to crit, all they ever achieve is a couple of shoves on you half way through as defence. Also while round removal is a dick move as you note, you're actually not supposed to just kill people for no reason. Or attack them for no reason. Which you already know because there's a ticket above of you doing the exact same thing once already.

So, what, third times the charm? Along with the mod suit and SM stuff?

So, I'd like a bit more context and thus I pulled a bunch of your rounds and looked over them. Not all of them are displayed here, scrubby has some weird indexing and there's been some weird filtering in parsed-logs apparently (which also affects scrubby's round listing). Some of the rounds are fairly normal, but the ammount with events of note is slightly over half the rounds I actually looked in to.

Round 210586 - 1 min 4 sec round start suicide
Round 210583 - non antag injecting people with blindness mutator, gets killed for it, IC OOC's about it, interesting bit at the end where 5-6 people murder them (mostly non antags) on the shuttle after they fireaxe a borg and someone else?
Round 210582 - late join, disconnects within 1 minute
Round 210570 - OOC in IC - Ezo1/(Shade of Jonas Leech) "dude has been playing this for years" - false accuse the person your shade is bound to Ezo1/(Shade of Jonas Leech) "hes a nukie" (there are no nukies), then logs out for 25 minutes as the shade. became shaded by losing a spirit bound duel, a choice of their own making, suitably bitter about it "kill yourself" not very "loyal shade" of you, particularly calling them a nukie.
Round 210568 - monkifies someone. does mutadone them too.
Round 210507 - dies to demon, becomes syndie lavaland, stabs team mate with energy sword, calls it a "prank", gets gunned down by two other syndie lavaland. respawns into lavaland again, the other two there know who it is and somehow they end up dying again (not sure why, then again its all very multiple life problems)
Round 210498 - Prisoner - points out the other person has a shank. a lot. attacks the person who has a shank. gets shanked (!) and then epied. Gets healed, sent back to prison, starts attacking the other prisoner again. and the seccie. gets batoned. returned to prison, attacks other prisoner (same one, third time), gets cuffed, threatens to suicide, gets uncuffed, attacks again, finally gets the kill on the other player, really not escalation policy. Later on for some reason attacks the captain, in the captains quarters, with the chain of command, and gets gunned down for it.
Round 210494 - Suicided, took space bartender, suicided within a minute, took beach bum, suicided in 40 seconds, became charlie station engineer, 7 second suicide, took charlie station sec, ends up getting killed by one of the other players after stabbing them with a knife a bunch of times
Round 208163 - original note for killing someone

So all in all we have

Murdered a player FNR and was told not to by the admin
Does this again anyway.
Couple of early non antag suicides
Some IC in OOC about your own death, some OOC in IC, while being salty.
Failure to play loyal shade as loyal, fake calling antag against the person you're loyal to.
Various genetics grief, some of which gets undone. The grief with the mod suits.
Various issues with ghost roles and attacking team mates and getting killed for it
Various ghost role suicides
Various self antagging ; lots of attacking people for what doesn't seem like good (or in fact any) reason, including the two kills administratively handled, all the stuff with the other prisoner, the captain, the shuttle event, the ghost roles, the shade.

Why did I look into all this. Well, I'll buy you're a newer player, though that doesn't really change the fact you FNR murdered two people minimum now. You're probably not an evader/griefer if I accept you're a newer player, but that doesn't mean you're not just a griefer in general. And the trick with permabans is the question "will they change". So looking back over your history will both give me an idea how you generally behave and play, and thus how you're likely to continue to behave and play, beyond the scope of this current incident.

And what I find is not compelling, its someone pushing the line or over the line quite regularly, so lets start with some basic questions ; have you read the rules, and if so, how do you explain your activities of the shift I permabanned you on in terms of the rules?

ill wholeheartedly admit that I've broken the rules, as i stated i skimmed through them a little bit to obviously get to the gameplay, which was my first mistake, I didn't know that suiciding was really an issue until now, so I'd like to apologise for that. I also wasn't so sure if suiciding was bad round start etc.

But let me get back into what you asked me. I broke rule 1 twice, 1st by stealing the mod suit and 2nd time by killing the lizard player. also maybe 7 potentially i'm not too sure, also some broken multiple times throughout my previous gameplay. but taking this criticism well I've now fully reread the rules and their sub descriptions, ill no longer use the ''new player'' excuse as it just seems childish, I do understand the severity of my actions fully now, all in all my continued actions did negatively affect other players games which is also a violation of rule 1, i completely understand what I've done and how its affected others games., but i just want to play the game and have fun, which is the opposite of what I'm causing for other players, i feel that with considering me fully rereading the rules as i should have done at the start of the game and understanding the severity of my actions and willing to take responsibility for them, i would like to apologise for my behaviour in game. though in the end actions speak louder than words, so if I did indeed be granted another chance I wouldn't waste it on making the same stupid mistake I did this time.

Alright, let me give you a few breakdowns on things of particular note to me here

The unjustified aggression or murder/round removal ; to start a fight with someone, you should have an appropriate reason that makes sense in the story (no 'im insane' either), and be reasonably proportionate (read escalation policy for more details)
Some minor griefery
Some issue with ghost/bound roles ; either attacking your own team, seeming instigating, suicides a few (they have limited supply), and the behaviour as the bound spirit seems against its required behaviour

I'm not going to pay too much attention to the list of events that I drew up ; I would feel obligated to properly research and ask about each one if I were to make anything formal of them, largely I wanted to get a feel of you as a player over your time here, and made a scratchpad of various things I saw along the way.

In your defence, it's not like these are all you ever do on the station, i've read through quite a few of your rounds, you like having spars in the chapel with consenting combatants, you spend a long time obsessing about food one or two rounds, and all sorts of other far more normal activities, so its not like you're here solely with the goal of griefing, and I was aware when I placed the permaban that 14 hours is a pretty "long" lifespan for a griefer really. Further to this, you've not really been 'guided' previously ; I've looked over your entire admin help history which is basically 4 tickets long, two of which are ahelps you raised, one of which was the bwoink you got for the original kill (but no formal penalty) and the 4th bwoink being my delaying-into-perma bwionk. Somehow you've avoided catching too much attention for your activities which means that aside from the first murder thing there hasn't been much feedback to you on stuff.

The round I catch you out isn't hugely representative in you live a very short life and all of it is somewhat problematic, your average balance is a little better than this. But still short of our standards.

I'm not hugely convinced you will reform here, but given the lack of accountability for things so far, this might provide the "shock" to your system to wake up and pay attention to what is and isn't okay behaviour on this server. And the only way to put that to the test, along with your views on events having read the rules, is to give you another chance.

As such I will propose the following way forward - I will reduce your ban to 7 days (from the time it was placed), considered an escalated ban for repetition of the exact thing you were warned about previously, and will replace my rather useless ban reason note with the following note text

As a non antagonist, while wearing one engi mod suit, stole the other, openly stating their intentions of simple theft. While probably attempting to space this, met and killed another player FNR. Already has a history of this sort of behaviour, and thus this is placed as an escalated 7 day ban. This was originally a permaban due to the high density of infractions witnessed in a short time during this round - please see viewtopic.php?f=7&t=34480 for the appeal - this player has an intermittent history of rule breaking or near rule breaking in their short career, however has promised reform. If this doesn't hold up *particularly with unjustified assault, murder or round removal* please consider reviewing the appeal for context when placing any punishment.

Does this seem reasonable to you?
