How to properly defend the AI sat

So this is what the AI sat looked like after we fortified it. The AI managed to hack enough APCs to get the timer below 200 without anyone even noticing :^)

Shoulda loaded up the floor with Racks too, they have to spend the time to dismantle it and lasers shoot over them.

1 miner with tier 0-1 gibonite can cause a lot of problems, that boom will knock on a turret and several walls, then place the second and dead AI.

Its actually makes me kinda sad how effective spamming airlocks is. Not because the doors are seriously harder to open than removing walls, but the fact that they somehow still keep engineers out for more than 30 seconds. If you're an engineer with gloves and can't hack a door, be ashamed.

Even with a skilled engineer they would still need to stop and weld the door before trying to hack it, giving the AI enough time to disrupt power to the door and make it unhackable for a minute.

Yeah if the engineer didnt bother to check the important wires previously it can take a lot of time.

Fun thing about AI's who build door mazes that appear to be doomforts of goodness can also be an easy way for Human attackers to win. All you gotta know is the 'AI Control Wire,Bolts, and Test Light' know those three and you get to the core easily.

Airlocks already cost much more energy than anything else.

Their ability to place an airlock frame doesn't do much when they can't place or set airlock control boards.

if you think doors are too effective at blocking entry you should just rework walls so that they're reasonably more effective, or doors be less effective. removing borg RCD door creation is both unnecessary and also probably would be annoying to rework, you'd probably need a new type of RCD that only borgs can have etc.

For real though? The best defense is to not be in there. Have a borg smuggle you out and hide you somewhere. Reinforce AI satellite as normal. Laugh as they break into your core with 40 seconds on the clock only to realize they've been had.

Yeah this is probably the best tactic, though normally of Z level is best its pretty hard to achieve (also not sure if that counts as failure?).
Can people still use pinpointers for non shunted AI's? I can't actually remember.

If you have no borgs, and you don't have any laws coercing you to protect Humans - you can use the foam dispenser to keep most people at bay. Though magboots and no-slips won't make them fall over.
Flashes will blind anyone not wearing eye protection or a space suit that gives flash protection. The EVA spacesuit and Emergency Spacesuit do not give flash protection as I recall.

Borgs can also move turrets around by unwrenching them so it is possible to alter the configuration and surprise someone.

Put a securitron in front of your core on detain mode with the safeties off and they'll keep those guys with chamo projectors/dual e-swords at bay.

If you know intruders have metal foam grenades, you can disable gravity to prevent the foam from encompassing the floor, but your foam dispensers will be heavily nerfed by it. Foam doesn't do well in no-grav.

There's also the old borg standby of just putting doors, walls and windows all over your core. Glass airlocks are the favourite as lasers can still shoot through them, on Meta I put a bunch of glass airlocks around the SMES to stop metal foam grenades being tossed in while still leaving the turrets able to shoot.
