Actually looking it up exploding trees in fires is more of an Australian thing because apparently the eucalyptus oil is flammable enough to make a living tree explode. Which probably means they like exploding like exploding is part of the survival strategy.

Plants are fucking crazy some strive to be as flammable as possible because they are so fire adapted smoke is required to stir their seeds out of dormancy.

Oh also recent studies of prehistoric ecosystems has revealed not many large animals (dinosaurs) lived in some environments near the equator because it just caught on fire too drat much so look forward to more fires.

Pretty much 100% sure that isn't an exploded tree. That's a cycad an and those burnt black strips are where it's tons for spiked leaves use to be.

The fuzz on the new growth gives it away.

Pretty tough though like a lot of plants that are fire adapted.

Hurricanes are extremely rare, like, really really rare, this part of the pacific just doesn't have the right conditions for them. Also yeah.. the drought wouldn't be nearly as bad if there was better handling of our water resources.
