Recently I´ve seen the Fly race being added onto the server so I thought to myself; Why aren't plasmama here yet? I mean I can see them on the wiki and it might not be too hard to implant them onto the server.

This was originally planned. Seemed like it was getting close too, until the people working on it abruptly stopped. Not sure what still needs to be done, they seem to work fine to me

We had them, you could roundstart play them for a while. But they were bugged and generally a grief fest since they were basically bonfires setting everything on fire when they died.

I loved playing as them in the short time we had them. There's no reason they can't be polished and added. Having a hardmode race was great, and really spiced up the game for me.

The issue plasmamemes have has to with the way humans breath. They breath in oxygen, use 1/5 of it, and then breath out 4/5th oxygen and 1/5th co2. This goes straight into the enviroment.

Well... with oxygen that's fine.... with plasma.... UH OH.

Mostly because breathcode a shit. Anyways, the bug with plasmamen that got them disabled was that nukeops plasmamen would spawn without gear and die. I thought i fixed it but that fix somehow got broken, and then i got caught up in fusion and feature freeze and such. I am actively working towards bringing back plasmamen.

I have an idea - bring back fusion, but it only works if you have have a bucklecuffed straight-jacketed muzzled plasmamen in the middle of the fusion chamber for the reaction to happen.

I would rather make plasmamen ineligible for nuke ops than remove them entirely. Besides, they would be a liability for the whole team.

Nuke op plasmamen are forced to be humans (as is any other race with the 'unsafe' flag. However this is only plasmamemes for now).

Disqualify them from wizard or ops. Both of those are one-person or small group antags that monopolize the round, so you can't afford to have one member gimped. Otherwise, there are no problems with plasmamen

They're already ineligible for nuke ops (I don't know about wizard)- they're still in the code, the change to enable them would be done in the server config, not the codebase. IE, talk to MSO or a headmin.

Then adminhelp shit like that. You aren't allowed to do that to lizards, you can't do it to plasmamen either. People breaking the rules is no reason to gut a feature.

IC-wise, it makes more sense for people to be fearful and distrustful of plasmamen, since they're so creepy looking and dangerous. Regardless, there is zero reason for them to not be re-enabled.

HG turned them off, so you probably need to bug the headmins to have them turned back on.

They were super unbalanced tbh. Plasmamen were very very overpowered for antag use because if they ever got ahold of a dead plasmaman, they could strip him and carry around an infinite firestack death machine that they were immune to because of their auto-extinguishing jumpsuits.

Well they're not uncloneable, they're just a pain in the ass to clone do to them being on fire in the clone pod. You can defib them under a cold shower with a cryoxodane injection and it'll heal all their damage cellular damage and keep them extinguished.

If plasmamen were just another snowflake race I would agree, but they're a real gameplay addition. Snowflaking with them is difficult since they all look identical, and they're objectively a pain in the ass to play. It's a fun challenge imo.

I don't know what you're not getting here. I understand that they can be fun and difficult to play, and that they're a real gameplay addition, but an IC spaceman won't say "Oh, I won't do le funny racism xD meme today, these are a real gameplay addition." No, there will be shitty rounds with shitty race wars, and there will be a lot of them, and if anything it may just as well be even worse than the lizard ones considering plasmamen have legitimate differences from humans. I mean- yeah that's basically a given; no different than any other content addition. It really just means rule 1 needs to be enforced more in a more draconian manner. People who scream valids and go around murdering productive crew because they can on a technicality shouldn't be welcome here.
